DaniJay has 2 years experience as a EMT-B.
Hello!
I am pursing my dream career of becoming an FNP. I am starting at the bottom and working my way up. In HS I visited Haiti after the hurricane hit with my church mission group. I was devastated at the loss and heartbroken. Something kept tugging at my heart strings. When I returned home I immediately enrolled in EMT school. After 8 months of intense studying on top of attending CSULB for my degree in Anthropology, I graduated in the top 3 of my class and I was on my way. I graduated college a few months later with my BS in Medical Anthropology. Shortly after graduating I was hired as an EMT in the OC area. After a 3 years on the ambulance I felt I was ready for something else. I actually left the medical field all together when my local PD hired me as a 911 telephone operator. Well sad to say after 5 months I QUIT! I couldn't bear to be on the telephone when I could be the one at their side physically helping them. So I quit and ended up looking for work at some hospitals in the OC. After a few brutal months of unemployment I finally got hired to be in the ER in an OC hospital. Actually one I used to frequent when I worked on the ambulance in the area. With now over 2 years of emergency room experience and exposure to clinical settings and TONS of support from doctors, nurses, PAs, and other techs I decided to go back to school and finish what I started so long ago. I am now applying to ADN programs from South OC to LA in hopes of being accepted into just 1. After my ADN, I will continue to my BSN (which is only a handful of classes since I already hold a Bachelors), then onto my FNP. I have enjoyed every class and challenge I have faced on my journey and can't believe I ever left it behind.
