Hello, I wanted to reply to your post without alerting the entire chat. So, I volunteered at a hospital for 2 years and had 8 months of experience as an EMT. Others were CNAs, EMTs, scribes, or had little-no experience at all. About 200 were invited to interview and 64 of us got in. Hope that answers your questions, but please let me know if you have any other!
Hi! Thank you so much for replying. I'm hoping to apply this upcoming January, but I'm a little hesitant about my stats. I have about 300 hours of hospital volunteer and I am a certified Phlebotomist, but have less than 3 months experience since it's pretty difficult to get a job in that field. My prereq gpa with the sciences and non-science is about 3.6. I'm hoping my volunteer work would be enough since I don't have that much healthcare experience.
How do you like the program so far? Concordia is one of my top choices so far for ABSN programs. Hoping this will be the last school I have to apply to.
Thank you again!
I would not worry too much about experience as we have people in the program who pretty much had very little to no experience at all. My undergrad GPA was about 3.5, but my sciences brought it up. Make sure you have quality letters of rec to supplement your application and make sure your statements are solid.
The program so far has been pretty challenging but rewarding. The professors care about you doing well, and the upperclassmen are always looking out for you ensuring you have the tools to succeed. I'm only in my first semester, but I'm starting to feel the burn.
Let me know if you want to know anything else!
