Hi, so I injured my shoulder at work last month. I sprained a couple of muscles, developed a cyst from "trauma", and developed joint effusion in two of my joints. I have been on workers comp & light duty for a couple of weeks now and I still experience pain. My ROM is limited and I'm still in pain because apparently the cyst is laying on my nerves. Luckily, I'm seeing a specialist soon.
To be honest, I'm exhausted and being in pain sucks. I have asked my manager if it was possible to reduce my hours from 36 hours to 24 hours just so I can have time to rest and make it to all these appointments (I have PT appointments twice a week and weekly visits to the injury clinic). Doing all of this while trying to meet my 36 hour requirement has been difficult especially since driving isn't as easy as it used to be after my injury.
I was told that was not possible. I've talked to HR and workmans comp and was told to skip lunch breaks (eat at my desk area instead of leaving the unit) in order to gain an extra hour and to move my PT location to one closer to the hospital and not my home (I live 30-45 minutes away depending on traffic).
It honestly just seems like working is more important than healing at this point and I feel like I have no support.
At this point, I want to quit my job and leave. But will this negatively impact me at all and has anyone been in my shoes?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
