    Got a repeat offender...

I know you mentioned having spoken to the child's teachers already, but did you or are you allowed to ask about bullying? As a former teacher, it could be that the child is being bullied in one of the classes after PE and does not want to be in there for that. I am not saying his actions are justified, but it could be the reason they are trying to get out of class. That might be something to look into.

    Rasmussen College - Fort Myers

So, my first quarter in nursing school has come to a close. Although it has not been officially entered into my account, I received 3 A's and 1 B. I was literally 1% away from straight A's in my first quarter, but starting off nursing school with a 3.75 GPA and a Level 3 on the ATI Nutrition exam isn't bad. I am definitely looking forward to next quarter. I will taking Pharmacology, Essentials of Professional Nursing, and Pathophysiology. Both Pharm and Essentials will have a lab and clinical component, so I will most likely be much busier next quarter. I believe I also must take 2 ATI exams (Fundamentals and Pharmacology). Everyone says Pharm is very difficult, both the class itself and the ATI. I am definitely looking forward to the challenge! My next quarter starts on April 1, so until then I will just be working and taking a trip out of state. I hope everyone else is doing well!

I personally have never done well studying in groups. I tend to get distracted and I talk A LOT! Haha So, I typically stay away from group studying. I do a lot of the assigned reading and all of the homework. This strategy has been working for me so far. That being said, the students in my cohort (started with 14, now already down to 12) all exchanged phone numbers and we text each other often for help with concepts and assignments. I’ve heard that some schools don’t have a good reputation of producing solid graduates, but I feel like that can be overcome by working hard and networking while at clinical sites or on your own. I plan on reaching out to the nurse manager at a couple of level 3 NICUs nearby to see if I can try to get a foot in the door before I graduate. I can say that my instructors so far have been very knowledgeable and I am happy I chose Rasmussen.

So far, so good! Just started my 4th week of the quarter. Took my first exam last Friday (for nutrition) and got 49/50. I have 2 more exams coming up in health assessment and "critical analysis and nursing science". Lots of reading, writing and ATI stuff, but overall not bad. My only real complaint is I wish we had more lab time for health assessment. Hope you had a great Christmas and New Year's! You excited to start at Keiser!? May will be here before you know it.

    Rasmussen College - Fort Myers

Hello everyone! I was looking into Rasmussen College in Fort Myers, Florida. I was wondering if there was anyone who has attended or currently attending Rasmussen at the Fort Myers campus? What were/are your thoughts on the program? Since I already have a B.S. in Exercise Science, I was looking at doing the A-BSN, Second Degree option. I have already attended a Nursing Information Session with the school and it seems like a great opportunity. Just looking to get more insight about the program from people who have gone through it. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
  6. Thanks! I am sure you can get at least an 87. The math section was super easy for me, but math has always come easy to me. It basically covers college algebra, geometry and some statistics. Know the difference between mean, median and mode. Understand estimations. Know how to solve for x. Other than that, it is pretty much plug and chug. Nothing too complicated.
  7. Hey Mike! I just took the TEAS, so I can definitely help answer your questions. 1) There are no pictures/diagrams in the science portion of the exam. So, no need to stress about that. 2) The ATI TEAS Study Manual is NOT detailed enough. I cannot speak for the "crash course" you mentioned, however. I would recommend buying the ATI Practice Exams from ATI's website. Those are the best gauge as to how well you will do on the exam overall and will let you know what areas you are weakest. For A&P, Biology and Chemistry refreshers, I watched a YouTube channel called "Crash Course". Hank Green does a phenomenal job of covering these topics. Each video is roughly 9 to 12 minutes in length and there are 40+ videos for each A&P, Bio and Chem. To give you an idea of how much those videos helped, before watching ALL 46 A&P videos, I scored a 72% on the science portion of the practice exam. After watching the videos, I scored 89% on the second practice exam. My overall score on the first practice exam was 84.7% and my overall score on the second practice exam was 92.7%. I ended up with an overall score of 92% on the actual TEAS, with an 87% in Science, 100% in Math, 96% in Reading and 79% in English. Honestly, with your background in A&P, Bio, Micro, Chem and O-Chem, I think you should be good. Unless you miserably failed those classes... haha
  8. So I got the SmartPrep Study Package last week. I took the pretests, studied the modules it recommended and took the post-tests. Improved on all areas (except Math, where I missed one question each time). I took Practice Exam A on Thursday and got an 84.7%. I bombed the Science and English sections (73% and 75%, respectively). So, I spent all day Friday and Saturday watching Crash Course's Anatomy and Physiology series on YouTube and going back through the modules on SmartPrep. Took Practice Exam B last night and got 92.7% (100% Reading, 100% Math, 89.4% Science and 75% English). I keep doubting my initial answers on the English portion and that kills my score. But a huge improvement in the Science section! I am now watching Crash Course's Chemistry videos because it has been 13 years since I have taken college Chem. I registered to take the TEAS on Tuesday, June 12 (2 days from now) at USF in Tampa. Hopefully I do well. I will let you know my scores as soon as I find out and give my overall thoughts on the SmartPrep Study Package.
  9. Thank you so much for all of the detailed information! I have been trying to figure out the best way to go about studying for the TEAS. Is the ATI TEAS study manual digital or is it a paperback that gets sent to you when you purchase it? Right now I am looking at getting the Basic Package (Study Manual and Practice Exams). Do you feel like it is worth spending the extra money on the SmartPrep Package? Thank you!
