Ubc sends their offers out in may and I heard BCIT will be out end of April...

    Langara Fall 2017

I was told that once someone is on the waitlist they will take a number of things into consideration including, but not limited to: past education, work experience and age. For the first round their hands are tied by the department to choose the highest gpa's but for the waitlist they can use their discretion. This was told to me by an advisor who has chosen the nurses for the past five years. So it's anybody's guess who will get a spot, but we will most definitely see movement as I know for sure some people will choose BCIT and UBC when those offers come out in a few weeks. Good luck!!

I am so happy for all of you!! I don't think i will get an offer in the first round but i am holding out hope that i will get pulled off the waitlist. I applied with a 3.3 and a paramedic certificate... will probably be a long wait because BCIT and UBC offers go out later this spring so people won't give up their Langara seats until then :) If you've got an acceptance letter and are planning on going somewhere else, give up your seat fast so the lowly wait-listers don't die from anticipation!!

The advisor told me that if you have 3.5 your likely to get an offer. I mentioned in an earlier post that in the Jan 2017 thread there were a few people who got an offer with 3.0-3.2 as late as December! I am sure the offers will be gong out soon!

Yes, so when I applied I went in and spoke with an advisor. Because I knew my GPA wasn't going to be high enough, I applied with a letter explaining why I will be amazing for the program, my paramedic transcripts, my resume including 6 years in mental health in the downtown east side and a letter of recommendation from one the the langara bio professors. The advisor told me that only GPA is considered for he first round then once they begin choosing applicants off the waitlist they look at all of the other stuff and GPA isn't the main factor. I am holding my breath right now. I don't think I could handle getting an offer in August! For September... but I would take it lol

    Langara Fall 2017

So i read the Jan intake thread and people were getting offers with a 3.0 as late as Dec. So, if you don't get an offer in March/April thats not the end of the world. I spoke with an advisor and he said that once you're on the wait list your GPA isn't as important, they look at past experience and previous schooling at that time. I am applying with a 3.30 and a paramedic certificate and he said I have a really good chance (most likely off the wait list). We will see. I am so nervous though. I have applied to VCC and the wait list is four years long they said:eek: seriously, what?!!! Anyway, i have decided that nursing is the goal so i will just keep moving forward until i get there. Hopefully we all hear soon -- So we can breath again.
