It seemed to me, that had nurse Steph posed the question as in the wording, a little differently, it might not have been taken so personally..True, no question is foolish, and as we tell our patients, the only foolish question is the one you don't ask, BUT, I also think you guys were being a bit hard, as in attacking nurseSteph without even asking, either via this post or pm, whether she actually MEANT to be sarcastic...Part of our jobs as nurses, is to assess and evaluate ALL sides of a situation before we make up our minds or take a stand...I think one took things TOO personally and the other wasn't intentionally sarcastic AND both could work together and learn from each other....Right?

(his definition, he told me later, was "pretty rad nurse..""Worked for me! :)

Dear ashemson: & others....

I'm new here too & I am so sorry if you thought me rude, I didn't mean to be, I am rather a smart*** but I'm honestly not a mean person. I honestly didn't mean anything bad by it. When I started school Med Term was THE first class we could take, along with anatomy, I went part-time because I'm older & have a family who depends on my income, I worked as an aide during school. Sheesh, long apology, but I really do feel bad, didn't expect this kind of reaction, I'm used to talking to people who know me & when I'm serious & when I'm trying to be funny. Yes, trying is the operative word here.

Hey, it's OK. Written words can be very misleading. I am also an "older" studen with three children, and I was very frustrated at the time. I probably took it wrong. Good luck in your quest!!

Thank you for replying ashemson, it means alot to me. Good luck to you too. What are you studying? I'm an LPN studying for RN, this summer I have generals, all classes that I have taken but WAY too long ago to count for anything:)

I also am returning to school after about 10 or 11 years. It was much easier not having three children back then I am studying for RN too. Luckily I had all my generals done already, just need A&P, micro, and a couple of other prereq's. But the school I am going to has incorporated a PT nursing curriculum, because there are so many "traditional" students returning that have families, so it will probably take me about 3 or more years to ever finish. Oh well, my youngest won't go to kindergarten for 3 more years, so that will be perfect! Later....Renee
