Your learning will be enhanced by you actually working on problems yourself and then coming here to solicit feedback on your critical thinking.
Based on what you've learned so far, what priorities do you see?

C. A. B.
Hey, don't take my word for it though. I'm not even in NS yet. Haven't even done my pre-reqs.
Looking forward to seeing what you come up with. I was actually torn between the C and A choice simply because I do not know what DHF is. However, a bleeding head wound w/uncon ranks pretty high on the ladder to me.

The old ABC's, you can drop a baby and we'll catch and recover it( baby doesn't matter what's with the mom), head wound's bleed like a wild banshee, don't care about you I'll put a dressing on it for the doc to suture it later. LOC if your breathing........who cares about blood. can we call airway? AIRWAY?
Look, that was a gimme, you've much to learn and possibly your books are the place, not a simple internet answer. nursing is about critically thinking... not just the right answer for the moment, although I've given it to you, it won't change the end result if you don't understand what the books are saying. Just think about it and stop trying to short cut. My best to you!
Zoo, thank you for that insight. I wish I had gone with my gut on that one. :/

There won't be anybody to help you with the NCLEX so you better get good at figuring things out by yourself now.
Get yourself a Saunders NCLEX book, there are lots of prioritizing questions on the cd.
There may not be anyone there to help you figure this out. However, there are people here who can. It's a matter of whether you want to or not.
Sure, I agree, it is best to look this information up and learn it on your own and study it- know it, breathe it, live it.
Yet, to know that someone can come here and get an answer....maybe just as reassurance isn't that what this forum is for?
Sure, we can give this person an immediate answer and hope it sticks. But most important we've taken the time to help someone. You all took the time to help even me, someone not even in NS atm, and I sincerely appreciate your stance in your answers. It was eye opening and sincerely appreciated it.
The medical field is always a revolving door of education. As long as I understand and know this I will be fruitful in my future endeavors.
So, thank you, to all of you who come here and respond. The quick answers are nice. As are the respectful answers that are given.
Thank you, each and every one of you, for your corrective criticism and advice.

It doesn't say that the asthmatic is experiencing an exacerbation at this point, he could be there with a paper cut! If I learned anything from the NCLEX it's not to read more into the question than is written. Going only by what is written in the original post, there is no one with Airway or Breathing difficulties. Therefore, Circulation is the most threatening in this scenario. There's no way to know if he is unresponsive due to blood loss or from the initial injury, but either way, he is my number one priority at this point.
I agree that it helps to figure things out on your own when you can, but for me it always helped to read other people's opinions and reasons for choosing that particular thing. Even if I disagree, it helps me think of other things that I may have missed or hadn't occurred to me initially. I'm very glad I found this site!
thanks for all who gave their comments its just that we were having a debate on this because one of my friends said that it is C its ok with me but i can't accept his rationale, that if we are going to perform CPR we ask the patient, first if he is ok and that is his reason for answering letter C, he said since the patient is unconscious with excessive bleeding, for me it should always be based on ABC
i agree with you that is the best rationale! tnx
