Prior nursing exp applies to higher rank?

Published

In one of my previous posts, someone mentioned that prior experience as a nurse (not military service) will apply as "constructive credit" towards a higher rank. Does anyone know the particulars or that, or how I can find out? At an O-1 pay grade (with BAh and BAS and healthcare) it's going to be TIGHT for us (family of 6). I was wondering today if my 2 years of nursing experience would count towards my rank, since I'm not a new nurse. Thanks!

I know you weren't trying to make me feel bad. We are kinda in the same boat. I would like to go in as a Cpt, but thats not what I joined for. I am getting the 50,000 school loan repayment, but even that is different, as you have to put in for it each year, so its taxed and in yearly incriments. I didn't get a sign on bonus because I only signed on for 3 years right now, and it was either or. I'm excited, and ready to go (except my sit ups need some work). Are you reserve?

I am reserve. I need work on my 2 mile. I can get 8:48 mile but tire out to 20:30. I also had to get a waiver for acl reconstruction that took forever to get. Taking it slow on my run to avoid injury.

I actually haven't seen my constructive credit yet and am not sure when i will. I am still waiting for orders from APMC in Atlanta. I have heard they are behind on OBLC. My recruiter told me over a year since i am in reserves.

Keep training. You can do it!

I just signed as a 1LT, 66F CRNA in the army reserve. I have been a CRNA for 7 years and RN for 14. My constructive credit was 6.75 years at the time of application. It took seven months to finally get everything settled. I even asked for re do of my rank and came back the same. I was finally told that for 66F they only count CRNA experience. They did not count any BSN experience. If i would come in as a regular RN I would be a captain. This really makes no sense, but I cannot focus on the negatives.

It is Army thing....I am not sure of their rationale behind it. In any other service you would have been at least an O-3 especially since a MSN generally guarantees you 1LT anyways.
