Primary Nursing MODEL!!! GOOD BAD UGLY??

Anyone ever worked with a Primary nursing model. I have only worked with a team model and am scared but all the hospitals around here use the primary model. can u tell me the good,bad,ugly on a med surg floor of primary nursing? we have only RN's and techs(aides) no LPN to give meds or help..

I assume when you say primary you mean total patient care. We in policy have a team nursing approach on our med/surg floor, but do occasionally have a mix of staff that warrents the RN's doing total patient care on 5-6 patients. I dont like it most of the time, it depends on the types of patients you have as to whether it will work or not. If your real busy it can sink you fast.
