Im trying to get all my prereq's out of the way so that I can submit my nursing school application in two semesters. Im currently in college bio and then onto the A&P classes. As far as general biology goes I have a feeling Im not going to remember all of this information on formations of structures like glucose and other enzymes when it comes to actually being in the program. Does anyone know if this is going to be a problem or if it will likely just begin to stick with me the more material I learn?

Hello!
Make sure you understand the concepts & that they make sense. You will have opportunities to refresh your memory throughout nursing school as they will be part of the curriculum. Your pre-requisites are design to give you a base on where to build up your knowledge as you move forward. Some things will stick better than others from the beginning; others will take a few more tries. That's normal.
Keep plugging away! You will get there! :)

As an educator, I've come to the conclusion that mastering most complex 'nursey' things is a three-phase process. The first time you take it -- YIKES! What is all this? I have to memorize a lot of stuff! The second time you encounter those concepts (usually as part of the next level class)... Huh - I remember some of this stuff. The third time you come across it usually does the trick... that's when the lights go on & students can actually apply the concepts to figure out what's going on. It's pretty normal. That's why nursing programs have a cumulative curriculum design... with important concepts re-visited at each level.
You can do this.

To build on what HouTx said, you're going to see some of the same material at least three times just in your prerequisite classes. You will cover structure and metabolism of organic macromolecules, enzyme structure and activity, and structure and function of cell membranes in Gen Bio, Microbio, and A&P.

It will all come together. I had to learn all the parts of the small and large intestine in A&P, a week later, I got to apply that information to nutrition. Last semester in chemistry, we learned chemical bonding, and I used that information in both A&P and nutrition - for glucose and protein structures. I'm sure it will all come up again in A&P II, and by then it'll feel comfortable and familiar.
Hang in there!
