Excelsior has sent me my list of courses needed before beginning the nursing component classses. They also said the next step is to enroll.
Am I right in thinking by enrolling I am committing to the $900+ fee?
Is there someplace I can take the following courses and Excelsior accept them and then pay the fee? I need: 1. Information Literacy 1 HR, 2. Life Span Development 2 HRs, 3. A&P 4 HRs, and 4. Microbiology 2 HRs.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. I would like to get these classes out of the way as quickly as possible.
Thank You

I am almost positive that information literacy has to be taken via Excelsior for all their degree programs now. The rest can (probably, check with them) be taken anywhere. I transferred in my A&P but for a general studies degree completion, so your mileage may vary. You can call them and get an adviser during the day.

Radio, I know that you can take the test and (test out) and get the credit. It depends though, on the college you plan to attend or transfer your pre req's to. I know the testing websites like Excelsior have a section that you can look up your college or university to see if they accept their courses.

Welcome to allnurses, Radio. I moved your post to the Excelsior forum. You can take Penn Foster's ENG103 in lieu of EC's Info Lit for a lot less money. Also, you do not have to enroll while doing non-nursing courses. You can also take two of the nursing courses (Essentials of Nursing Care: Health Safety and Transition to the Professional RN Role) before enrolling. For Lifespan, you can take the Human Growth and Development CLEP test for a lot less than EC's exam.
Welcome to the madness!
