Hi Everyone,
Just wondering if anyone else here is working on their prereqs for SMC, and if so where. I am currently taking classes at Merritt Community College to prepare to apply to the ABSN as well as the ELMSN program -- and I'm almost done!

Been there, done that LOL. That's my alma mater....lol.
PM me if you want info or books for sale. I took 2 of them online for supercheap. Pharm and Patho.

I'm currently taking prereqs at the College of San Mateo and the City College of San Francisco. But each semester, I just take them where I can get 'em! :)

Thank you for your responses...So I have sort of a confusing question about the Chemistry requirement. They require one semester of general chemistry.Freshman year undergrad (way back in the day) I took two semesters of general chemistry. And then a few years later i took one semester of Organic Chemistry. Which semester will SMC count? The first semester of my general chemistry? or the second one because it is more recent? I assume they won't count the semester of organic chemistry even though it is the most recent. I wish they would though, because that is my best grade. I have tried asking this question to the counselors at SMC but no one has gotten back to me. Wings - where did you take those courses online? I still need to do them.

My best guess is that they would take your regular chemistry, not the organic one, but who knows for sure, huh? I have had some bad luck with people getting back to me too. Good luck!
OK, so assuming they take my regular chemistry class, are they going to take the first semester....or the second semester. I would think the first semester except that the second semester is more recent obviously. Guesses? :)
I think they would take your best grade actually. In all the conversations I've had with them, that's what they've told me. The only reason that I think they wouldn't take your organic chem grade, even though it's better, is because they ask for general chem. So I think they would take your best general chem grade. :)

I would agree with Kensington, although I think doing well in Organic is definitely a bonus and I would hope that they take that into consideration. I think that factor can only serve to help you and demonstrate that you've taking more Chem that you actually needed. Don't worry...can't change it anyway!
I took Patho at Santa Barbara city college and pharm at Moorpark...if I haven't confused the two. I took them both over this past summer. I highly reccommend these 2. As for SMC, I would guess Organic. Don't even mention the high school class, but GET IT IN WRITING. I have heard horror stories.
No one at SMC gets back to you except LizM in admissions, btw. Big turnoff. I am a little worried about this.

Thanks again for any advice.

They might lump them together since many nursing programs want you to have covered basic organic and biochemistry and those are usually in 2nd semester of general chemistry.
...does anyone know if "Philosophy 10 - Logic" can count for the "Social Science" requirement? Isn't that a fairly broad category?
I doubt that philosophy would count as a social science since it's not a science nor does it relate to society. It would fall into the "critical reasoning" category.
Social science is going to be something out of the departments of anthropology or sociology.
