I recently ordered the Admission Assessment Exam Review, 3rd Edition by Elsevier(I think that's how its spelled). It's on Amazon for about $30. It's the book my school recommends to student for the HESI and it's the book a lot of people have said is good. They also said to order the Cliff Notes Anatomy and Physiology for dummies as well to get a deep review of A&P. I think it also depends on when you plan on taking the test(I probably wont take mine until August).
Find out exactly what sections your school requires is the first and most important step -- the HESI study guide is excellent for the English and math sections. I found it a little less so for the A*P and Biology sections, so if you have to take those I would find a source to brush up on those areas -- I used my notes for A*P and since I was only 1/2 way done with A*P 2, I didn't do very well with the questions about hormones.. I also was weak with general biology questions since it had been SOO long since I had general BIO.
These strategies get me a 92 on the first sitting.. and that was enough for my nursing program :)
Best of luck.
