Hello, has anyone attended or heard of Premier International College in Florida? If so, can you tell me your experience? I'm from California so I just want to make sure that this school is legitimate. It sounds similar to International College of Health Sciences. I called Premier and they said that it's a 2 year online ASN program, less than 2 years if pre-reqs are completed prior to admission. Clinicals are in-person at the end of each term; 10 days, 12 hours each shift.
I would have to say this is the worst school ever. The DON is the most heartless person on earth, she probably thinking that because she is the own of the school she can treat students any way she wants, she is rude and has no respect for her student. They have the hardest grading system, so heavily weighted on, quiz, midterm, final. At the end of your quarter you will have to take a final, oral/written, and comprehensive to pass the class. example is that there was 19 students and only 2 students passed the class. The instructor teaches you, but they have supposedly someone else creating your quiz and test, or they uses a completely different source for testing, so trust me even the smartest students are failing these quiz, and exams. They teaches and expectation is that you're already a nurse working towards you BS so you already have been expose to the nursing life and should know it on the top of your head.
I found this on their website:
QuotePersonal Advancement
Prior to any student advancing to the final course of the program, the student is required to meet 90% of the contracted financial amount. If the student's account does not reflect 90% satisfaction, the student will not be eligible to enroll in the course for completion of the program.
There are a couple of these Florida programs that require tuition paid in full before graduation. The PIC policy is a new one for me.PIC has applied for ACEN approval. Hopefully they gather the data that will determine the quality of the school. I could not find graduation rates, NCLEX rates but that will need to be disclosed to ACEN,
PLEASE DO YOUR RESEARCH BEFORE CONSIDERING...
This school has a very shady past and have changed their college name several times. This school was originally named "West Lawrence Academy". Throughout the years it changed to "West Lawrence School of Nursing" then "Premiere international Institute" and finally "Premiere International College'. The school was originally registered in 2009. The initial PRESIDENT of the school was [MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME]. In 2011 [MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME] sued [MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME] . In his complaint he argues that the school was set up by himself and that around early 2011 [MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME] began a plan to systemically alienate [MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME] claiming that [MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME] was never a shareholder of West Lawrence Academy. He says that the school was originally planned to be a family owned business but after he received advice from advisors he decided to find additional shareholders. He met with [MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME] in 2009 regarding her willingness to join and contribute to the school as a shareholder. Between them and one other shareholder named [MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME] they each had agreed to own 33% of the company. He says that [MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME] FRADULENTLY and without his knowledge made an amendment to change his title. After the amendment [MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME] began to seize all control of corporate assets, bank accounts, finances. He claimed she went into his office and shredded corporate receipts. He says that [MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME] claimed [MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME] was just an "at will" employee that she fired, eventually firing his daughter and another. This school is STILL filing their taxes under "West Lawrence Academy". They hire a bunch of foreigners that live in countries like Africa and Philippines to handle student finances. Their tutors are NOT even registered nurses they were previous students who apparently graduated from the school but yet to have sit for their boards. I've been told by previous teachers who worked at the school that they know of students who graduated back in 2019 and the school refused to send their paperwork to the boards to sit for their NCLEX til this day. Students in the LVN program are complaining they have been waiting 2-3 years trying to finish the program, the school cant seem to find professors and they've gone MONTHS without a professor and they fail to update them on when they will resume classes. I was told by previous students who attended this college when it was first named West Lawrence Academy that they were scammed out of their money, they went to the school campus to protest. Students are also noting how the school recently discriminately graduated only 4 students out of a class of 18. The school said you had to achieve a 900 in each subject area of the HESI exam and an overall 80% on the schools exam in order to graduate, but some students admitted they did NOT meet those standards and were still allowed to pass through. This school is just trying to hang onto their accreditation while making money! ALSO this school barely has an data on their retention rates and passing rates for a school that's been open since 2009. Go at your own RISK.
So, I usually don't get involved in all the drama but I couldn't stand by and watch my classmates throw this school as a whole under the bus. I am a current student in the final course. I am about to complete my program. Most of my classmates and me too have at one point during my time here cheated or tried to cheat. The only problem my classmates have is they don't take responsibility for what they do. I have been here for almost the full time and the group I started with has been a bunch of complainers. Sometimes the same people who are probably posting negative things here have wasted our class time complaining about things instead of just reading the book. You find out real fast that test banks and trying to cheat get you nowhere. I did not pass my exit exams but I own the fact that it was on me. I have all the books and materials just like the people that did pass. The school could have put me out and just been done but, if you want to be a nurse this place is going to help you if you are serious. I do agree about last-minute things that make it frustrating but in all the school is legit. I think everyone thinks because it's mostly online that it will be easy. This is a real nursing program and if you don't know how to use a PC or you don't have any self-discipline or accountability you will fail. (just like I did) But I am not giving up and I will make it. I am thankful that they are sticking with me. I have been to other schools and they don't care. Use your brain if it wasn't legit they wouldn't be able to give us financial aid and have those accreditations. So in all honestly the posts with all this hate are probably people in my group or ones that already failed out of the program. I hope this helps people make their decision on where to go but do your research like I did almost two years ago.
