I fully expect to be accepted and begin nursing school in January. I also just found out yesterday that I am pregnant with my fourth child. I think I'll be due somewhere at the end of June or July. Have you or anyone you know made it through nursing school while pregnant or after having a baby. I am excited about my new baby but I have also worked for a long time to get into school and am stressed out about it. Any stories or opinions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks alot!!

Katy,
you'll do great. We had several people in our nursing class graduate after giving birth mid semester. You will need a VERY healthy pregnancy. At my school they required periodic notes from your OB/GYN saying you were healthy enough to continue clinicals. If you run into a problem....your health baby's come first and you can always continue school after he/she is born. The hardest thing...In my opinion, is the older children who understand. I can't tell you how many times my kids told me, "mom all you ever do is study, play with us." I ALWAYS made on day a week (Sunday usually) to do something fun with them, whether it be going to the beach, park or movies. And if I had a major test the following monday....I would try and rent them a kid movie so they could watch it while i studied. I had my oldest mid semester...and had to go right back 2 days post birth. I was only taking pre req's, but still ended with 4.0 GPA. The next semester proved harder. I had some issues with being a single mom and had to work fulltime and go to school full time with a 4 month old. I ended up dropping a few classes that semester and didnt return for a couple years. When I returned I had another child, but it wasn't bad because I had a hubby who supported me and friends to help out with child care when i was in school or when i really needed some quiet time to study. Good Luck. You will do great. Last tip....medical mnemonics websites are great with help:)

You're a veteran mom...you're a pro at it by now. There were several women in my nursing class who had baby's, one had 2...in a 2yr program, and graduated with a flying colors! It is definitely doable. Good luck!

Katy....I graduated in Winter '03, and a classmate was pregnant with her 8th...yes, 8th. She delivered 2 months after graduation :balloons: , and had her 7th one 5 months after our Physical Assessment class ended. :rotfl:

Congrats on your 4th child. You will do just fine. I was pregnant when I did my A & P. I got a little tired from time to time and my baby was extremely active during class hours (maybe he was bored by the lecture and tried to get out). :chuckle
I have 4 classmates who were pregnant during nursing school and only one dropped out because of postpartum depression. All made it till the end and I just heard that one of them even passed the board!
You can do it, just hang in there!

During our OB semester we had two girls who were expecting. Needless to say, they helped a lot of us out by letting us practice determining fetal lie and whatnot. :) One of the girls delivered a month before finals. She had lots of help from family and was in class a week later. You can do it!
Congratulations on your pregnancy! I wish you luck in all things!! :)
