Anybody have an experience with pregnancies when the patient has a large fibroid? I just found out that I am pregnant, and at first it was thought that I had a molar, but it was confirmed on US that there is a healthy baby (9 weeks) along with a fibroid the size of a nerf football! I have been referred to a high-risk OB, but haven't seen her yet. Does anybody have any experience with this sort of thing? I am wondering just how stressed out I need to be!
Thanks!

We had a patient a few months ago with this same issue. This pregnancy turned out great with healthy baby girl, delivered c-section because the fibroid prevented pelvic progression. She had a previous still birth a couple years before that though. Your doctor will of course have much more knowledge than I on this topic. I wish you the best!!!

Hope all will be fine but I couldn't give you any advise to how concerned you should be.

I have seen everybody be fine w/ a pregnancy/fibroid combo, but it does merit close following to make sure mom and baby are both ok.
Wishing you the best...please do keep us posted. We can offer support etc., we just can't dispense medical advice pertinent to your situation. :)

It happens quite frequently, and most of the time, these pregnancies turn out ok. The OB/GYN if need be, takes care of the fibroid after pregnancy, depending on its size and the problems it is causing the patient. I have seen women have babies who had rather large fibroids during pregnancy and do ok. We watch for bleeding most often.
I wish you luck and a happy and healthy pregnancy. Take care of yourself and your baby to be!
If you have more questions, please be sure to query your doctor until you are satisfied you understand what this means to you and how treatment, if offered, is expected to help you.
