My daughter was a 27 weeker who spent 99 days in the NICU. We were fortunate to be able to visit her every day (well, I missed a few for being sick but MOM was there every day).
We took a ton of pictures of her from which my wife has done several scrapbook layouts. One of our lamentations was that all the pix are so harsh, both the lighting and environment but also the tubes and wires and stuff.
She did this painting from one of the pictures in an effort to soften the image and show the baby that we saw despite all the NICU trappings.
I thought I'd share it and let y'all see the softer side.
Thanks all for the positive feedback. I've shared it with my wife and she's flattered.
All you NICU nurses know how important you are to our families. For many of us NICU parents, you're why we're entering the nursing field.
Don, to answer your question: She's doing fabulously. She's almost 6 and has only mild persistent deficits and anomalies. We were so fortunate to have avoided most of the severe complications associated with prematurity.
I'm glad you all like the painting.
