Hello all,
I was home schooled and I focused on humanities in high-school much more than sciences. I have been in college for three years, and have a cumulative GPA of 3.84 (no sciences). I am a history major switching to nursing, so this upcoming year I will need to complete the pre-requisites for the clinical portion.
I was wondering if there was any pre-requisite knowledge that I needed to do well in the mentioned classes, and if there was any online resources that you guys were aware of that could help with that?
Thanks a lot!

You might want to brush up on some human biology if its possible. Maybe get something like a for-dummies book so you're not going in completely unprepared. Some people might say you should take a general bio course before taking the two classes but honestly, my school required two general bio courses before them and I did awful in those (C and C+) but I got A's in Anatomy and Micro and a B in Physiology.

Some schools require an intro bio course before you can take anatomy and some require physiology and chemistry before you can take micro. It all depends on the individual school policies. But you can take anything you want to get yourself prepared. You would be looking at intro chem, intro bio, elementary algebra as required prereqs or nice to have as preparation for anatomy, physiology, and microbiology.
The school I'm going to do not require them. I was just worried that I might not do well without taking those first. A&P I and II are actually the lowest level Biology courses my school has, and then we have to take Introduction to Chemistry OR Chemistry for the Health Sciences.
I am starting A&P I in the fall. Is there anything I can do this summer, aside from the already mentioned suggestions, to better prepare myself? (Looking for books, websites, etc that I could read or videos I could watch)
Thanks for the tips guys.

Well you might laugh after you read this, but I would learn a lot watching to these cartoons about the human body...you can watch them in youtube...there are a lot of episodes, and they can be very helpful. I remember when I was studying nursing and the professor would explain a new subject... and I already had an idea of everything because of these cartoons. I don't know how many of them are translated to English..(I used to watched them in spanish, but they are originally in french) Good luck... :)

Some schools like others said require that you take chem or bio before you can take the other science. My school, which I think is AWESOME makes you take this one not for credit course which is basically a combination of both things with no lab and end with an intro to both A&P and micro. Maybe yours has the same. I loved the course and got an A with a VERY limited science background. I too was switching from a history major.
