Hello all!
As part of my pre-reqs for nursing I have enrolled in a college composition course. Our project for the semester is a 10 page thesis on anything we'd like. Our prof. wants us to come up with 3 possible topics and write a paragraph on each one, and finally narrow our selection to one. I'm really having a tough time with coming up with a subject that won't put the poor teacher to sleep while grading my paper. My lifes experiences are in real estate and marketing (Yaaaaaaawnnnn....). Could you please suggest some really cool topics that I could sink my teeth into and not put me to sleep? Any help would be greatly apprecitated!
Thanks gang!
I like to write about unusual topics for my papers. I did a research paper in my English III class about:
Chemical Castration for Repeat Sexual Offenders.
It is a very interesting topic and there is quite a lot of info out there about it. Apparently there are states with laws allowing repeat sexual predators to take injections of a drug that renders them impotent, which is a requirement for release from prison. It has apparently significantly decreased the incidence of paroled offenders molesting again. The injections are mandatory and continued release is based on compliance with the injections.
There are states who allow physical castration as well.
On the other side the CLU has fought this as being against the prisoners rights. Find it hard to feel sorry for child molestors, but that is the theory behind this. Many states are considering this type of law and it is an option now as a voluntary thing by the prisoner.
Any way just thought I would drop this FYI. Good Luck!!

I recently finished an English class that also required a 10-12 page paper. My topic as about the nursing shortage, when it started, how it started (some say from the 70s womens movement towards other carrers, the rise of HMOs, how the media portrays nurses. ect), some solutions to intrest people to the carrer (mandate ratios so nurses are not overworked, sign on bonuses) and recruitment/retention solutions. What was so great about writing this paper was that I was intrested in the topic and learn so much about the history. Hope this helps and Good Luck!!:)
