Really, this happen to me yesterday!!! "Oh crap, we have a test can I borrow a scantron?" WTH? Cmon' people. And like a dummy, I gave her a scantron. They come 5 in a pack and we have 5 tests. So now I am shot one. You better believe I am going to hit her up for the last exam. All the while we are taking the test, she is running up to the teacher to "clarify" questions :uhoh3: .

This is the same girl who asked me before class, "So, what did we cover last week?" I was like, "What?" She goes, "remember, I was not in class last week." I just looked at her with a blank stare. I thought to myself, I don't know who the H#$% you are and why in the would would I care if you were in class last week. I am not a school to make friends! Thank goodness she is not going into nursing. I believe she is trying to be a dental hygenist or something. This is the same chick who asked...."Is this going to be on the test?"

Okay, breath......:smokin:(i am not a somker) 6 more weeks with this girl, I can do this.

You have to BUY your own scantron, and bring them to class??? Why would they not be handed out with the test. I have *never* heard of that before! How much are they? What are you supposed to do if you forget to bring one? So weird....

Yup! It is a pack of 5 @ appx $1.50 per pack. One teacher had everyone buy a pack of scantons and give it to the teacher...at that point, the teacher would be the "keeper of the scantrons" and nobody would be without one or in the danger of having a cumbled up scantron. Most of my other classes, we were responsible for having a scantron.

You are tooooo nice, does she even acknowledge you any other time during the semester? Here it is like that, they won't know you until they need something. I've dealt with too many "winners" like that and go into hiding before the test not to be bombarded with stuff like that. Just bring ONE scantron with you from now on and say "Sorry I don't have any extras"

We need a good supply of: "Head on!!!! Apply directly to the forehead!!!!!":lol2:

oh I so had to read this post because I thought hmmm does she go to my school? The girl that sits next to me does this EVERY test. First she comes in about 15minutes after test starts then she asks people for scantrons, then she will ask for pencils! And would you know she sits next to me so thus my lab partner @@ oh lovely. It cracks me up now and the fact that the teacher puts up with it I would have kicked her butt out when she was late for the first exam, my instructor....patients of a saint.

wow even 20 years ago when I was in school we had to purchase our own scan trons and blue books and were expected to have them for tests. Here too its the students responsibility its in the syllubus your told in advance when you have an exam and you are typically reminded just before hand you can usually borrow one from someone when you forget but most people are responsible enough at this time to be prepared for an exam.

Wow, interesting. For $1.50, you'd think it would just be included in your course costs, seems like its just one more dumb extra you have to buy. I mean, $1.50??? It's not like with textbooks where you can go to the library, borrow, get used, or whatever. Glad we don't have that problem.

But to OP, I understand what you mean about the student who constantly forgets to bring stuff for whatever. Steth, black pens, extra paper, whatever. Especially when they get all frusterated with everyone else that no one could supply them with the needed items.

Wow, I can't believe ya'll have to buy your own scantrons. These schools are so cheap.

I was wondering the same thing! I've never heard of this. They make us pay for everything on top of tuition, it's like what are we paying our tuition bill for if we have to buy everything anyway! I know, I know, we pay to go to the school and to get an education. But still, we still pay for a lot extra. I mean Scantron sheets aren't that expensive but everything else is!

But I do know what you mean about students not being prepared. I've walked in to a room where people didn't even know there was a test! Then they pull the, "But you didn't announce it last class!" Well, that's what the syllabus is for!

I never heard of schools making students buy their own scantrons. I've been to at 4 different community colleges in the past for prereqs, and 2 colleges, and now nursing school, and none have requested us to buy scantrons. I thought they were also part of the costs in our tuition and 'fees'. I guess schools have tight budgets sometimes, but making students buy their own scantrons is just too annoying, since we would have go out of our way and buy them. Even if the school sells them, then why not just include it in the 'fees' in the school bill and have the teacher bring the scantrons, in case students forget them?

Nursing school is stressful enough, and I can see people forgetting to bring those sheets, esp. since most schools throughout the U.S. provide them for students, so we are not used to carrying our own scantrons.

It's not that uncommon. I've attended four colleges/universities. One we had to supply blue books, but not scantrons. Two we had to supply both, and my current school I've only had multiple choice tests so far, but the teacher supplies the scantron. I was actually surprised. They're much less than $1, so it's not a big deal. You just think of it as a school supply. I HAVE had to run to the bookstore before an exam when I realized my supply was in another bag, but have never borrowed one from another student.

I'd do the same and run and get my own. It's called SELF RESPONSIILITY, something that an increasing number of people don't possess.
