Moving to USA; CNA training advice.

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hi guys and gals. I'm looking for a bit of advice on CNA training in Maryland.

I trained as a RGN (RN equivalent) in the UK back in 2005 but moved to the USA before registering so never practiced in the UK. I moved back to the UK on 2010 and have held a few nursing assistant roles in private care homes and a phsyc unit in the NHS. I left care work in 2014 to stay at home caring for my daughter. We are moving back to the USA again to Maryland in Feb/March- not long!! I'm interested in picking up a nursing role again and working towards an RN position. I understand that the state requires certification as a CNA/GNA before I can start working but i would really be interested if there were any roles where I could commence without certification and receive training whilst working in order to achieve cna certification. Is anyone aware of any employers that may have such an opportunity? I've scoured various sites but keep drawing a blank.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The majority, if not all, jobs within the medical field require some kind of certification or license. Your best bet would be any internship or volunteer opportunities at your local hospital or senior home.
