Houston Hepatitis B decline form

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Does anyone know if pre-nursing students can decline the Hepatitis B vaccination in the Houston area (Lonestar, HCC, San Jacinto, etc..) when applying?

Best bet is to speak directly with someone at each school. Policies can change and be updated; going directly to the source will make sure you are getting the most up to date and correct information.

Probably not as working in a hospital is not a right. You are not forced to work there so if you cannot meet the requirements then you will not be hired. You can ask them and see what they say.

Talking to the school is the only way to know for sure, but unless you have a medical reason why you can't get it, I would doubt that you could get out of it.

Thanks everyone for replying. My job 'offers' the hepatitis B vaccination (supposedly) when we sign the form saying we want the vaccination when hired, they never follow through or ask. This is at every facility I've worked at. I do however, (with all this said) have a negative titer but I'm sure my job wouldn't want to know that. Hopefully my insurance will cover it as I will call tomorrow, and the rest of the immunizations/titers.
