Antelope valley fall 2015!

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello all! I been following this forum for awhile and I have always found a lot of good information on here... I thought I would start a forum to reach out to anyone who may be applying to AVC for fall of 2015. I know we may be finding out in May. How does everyone feel about this? I know that stats requirement may of helped people that already had the the class done a small advantage. IF I get in, I'm concerned about whether or not I should work or not. I'm full time at a mortgage company which I know I would definitely have to leave... Does anyone know how to get on with a medical based job without any CNA, or medical assist license? Or if chanes of getting a job in that field are even likely with no licensing.

I think we should be finding out within that first week of May. I'm def excited. I think with these new changes, my chances of getting in are pretty good. I just got into COC's program but I'm hoping for AVC since I live in Palmdale. I don't plan on working, at least not that first semester. I wanna see how intense the program will be and if I think it's something I'd be able to balance. Getting into a medical job without a license is not the easiest thing to do. As far as I know if you are in a medical setting, it's as a clerical type position. It helps to know someone that can help you for sure.

Thanks for getting back :) I hope chances are good of getting in I want to get accepted so bad!! When did you submit your app? I'm nervous :/ I don't speak another language, so I don't get any points for that... I have good GPA though... I just want May to come lol

I submitted mine in June of last year I believe and they accepted it but they did warn me that I had to do stats and turn that in by December to stay on the list for Fall 2015. Good thing I had already enrolled in the class otherwise I would have been SOL.

Im with you there. I know Spanish a bit but I'm no where near fluent enough for them. I'm totally relying on my TEAS score and my science and overall GPA. I feel like with this new system we have a good chance just because the weight of the points is more on academics. Fingers crossed tho!

Wow! June of last year! Hopefully you do get in that's a long time to wait, I squeezed by getting mine in a few weeks before the March deadline :( I hope I'm not crazy having a small ounce of hope of maybe getting in for fall... :( we have to wait and see I suppose

It wasn't that bad of a wait. Of course I didn't realize at the time that they were changing the program so I had emotionally prepared myself for that 2 year waitlist :p I believe I was #206 on the waitlist so this new change was definitely welcomed.

I don't think you're crazy for having hope for Fall. How'd you do on your TEAS if you don't mind me asking?

No problem I got a 70.. Pierce college invited me to take it and I randomly came across the email in my junk mail, so I hurried up and studied for like a week straight and just took it... Shortly after AVC sent out their invitations and I could of had more time to study... Pierce is a lottery school so we will see how that goes as a back up.. How did you do??

That's not too shabby. I think you've got a pretty decent shot at getting in. I got an 83.

Thank you :) let's hope we meet in the program, we will keep each other updated if anyone of us hears some news

That'll be awesome! I'll definitely post something as soon as I get a letter from them!

Hi all. I myself have been stalking the all nurses website for sometime now to get any bit of info. I recently came across this post and thought I would share my experience. It's a little different because I registered for the LVN-RN bridge program for the Associates, but here is how it worked for me. I applied to the program in July of 2014. On February 28th 2015 I received my letter welcoming me to take my TEAS test that was scheduled for April 2nd. I had about a month and few days to prepare. Let me tell you that test was not easy but it is doable. My score was not the best BUT it was passing. AVC LOOKS FOR PASSING. I scored a 66% and I needed a 62%. After having passed I was still nervous because I would read that AVC doesn't base it just off of your TEAS score, that they do point system and some other stuff and I was a bit worried that because of my score being lower I wouldn't make the cut. Well this past weekend on May 1st I received my letter of acceptance into the bridge program. (So my score was good enough, once again it was passing.) It is a thick packet that comes in a large yellow manila envelope. I have already started the process of background screening which you can register for online, I have purchased my scrubs etc. I will start on June 16th. I am 25 and have been practicing as an LVN for less than 1 year. I am very excited to continue my education in a field that I feel so blessed to be apart of. I just thought I would share some dates on roughly how long it took to hear back from the time I applied to the time I got in. So technically less than a year. Goodluck to all of you í ½í¸Œ

Congratulations on being accepted!!!!!

I was just wondering what is AVC asking for prior to enrollment? I'm still waiting to see if I got in but I was accepted to COC's program and was curious to know how much of it is similar to AVC as far as immunizations and such.
