A&P II Club! Come on in!

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Who all is taking A&P 2 ? Is there going to be a club?

Probably Microbiology, but a C will do for that one. It is just a class that you have to have, but is not a pre-requisite, or one they count in with the points. As far as sitting in, I know he would probably let me, but not for free. I know he would expect to be paid.

Well, but what else would you be taking with your repeat of A&P II? That is what I meant -- that the other classes might suffer.

If you are friendly with your Nutrition teacher, you might ask if they cared if you sat in on their A&P II class so that it wasn't on your record. My teacher didn't care, and let people stay in class who had dropped.

I am not so sure I have. In A&P 1, I was pretty confident that I was learning all I needed, but I'm not sure with this one. :uhoh3: The thing is, I just dont want them to expect me to know something in nursing school that I was never taught. I would rather re-take the class and learn what I need to be successful in school and as a nurse.

I am sure that you learned just enough...I wouldn't retake the class, alone from the financial standpoint. Keep your a&P book though, I bet it will serve as a good reference source once we are in nursing school. Nobody remembers everything from the science classes, as long as you have a good foundation of the important things everything will be fine. Good luck and kick butt on the final :troll:

Your school requirements are sure very different from ours down here in SA, is your nursing program an RN program? Wow, the grade in micro doesn't really matter....how I wished ;) It's one of the key classes to get in and it's in your best interest to make an A to be competitive.....you remember what I went through with it in the spring LOL crazy class, crazy people! I would suggest you go talk to your teacher and see if you can't work something out and participate in the A&P class if you are that worried. I hope you don't have to pay extra. Good luck, we are almost there for this semester

Micro isn't one of our pre-reqs either.

At most schools, isn't the price of auditing a class the same as taking the class for credit? So, he couldn't want much more than that. Personally, I don't think he'd be allowed to take your money directly, but that's just me. I hope you work it out, especially if it is something you feel you need to do so that you feel confident. I know that feeling confident is VERY important!

Some of the survivors in our class talked to our A&P teacher today as we were reviewing the old tests for the final....he said that our college's pre-nursing science classes are the most difficult, including his, of all in the Alamo College District here in SA. Other colleges have higher class averages and if one wants to go grade shopping for a high GPA to hop around in all the different schools and gather the easiest A's....but it will eventually backfire in our nursing program...many who have substandard A&P classes are very likely to fail nursing school and drop out. I am very glad that I take the classes where I take them and I feel very good about what I learn. I am very confident that I have a strong background for any nursing school anywhere on planet earth. THis A&P is my last science and it was very very hard to make an A.....I made 100 on my labtest which I took yesterday, a day early so that I can start studying for lecture 4 on Fri and final on Monday.

I would feel terrible thinking that I may not learn enough in any particular class... I never felt that way and I have taken classes at different colleges in different States over the years.

Good luck on the final stretch and I wished I had a better answer for Texas Angel...she shouldn't have to worry like that, school and trying to get into nursing school is hard enough. I hope things work out.

Yeah, we learned that other A&P classes even within the same college system were significantly easier than ours. I know people who did hop around for grades, but I sure don't want them as my lab partner once we get into nursing classes!

Since our school goes strictly by GPA I will have the pleasure to put of with plenty of those .... Looking forward to it already:lol2:

As far as I know, there is no audit option at our college. :o I dont know how that would be handled? Seems one time, I heard someone say something about that. I guess all I can do is ask. It would help imensely to sit in and take notes.

The school I'll be attending is strictly GPA, too. Maybe we can commiserate together later ;)

Really? No audit option? I've been to 4 colleges in Texas, and they all had the option to audit. It'd be worth looking into, anyway. Auditing is through the school -- they know you are taking up a seat in the class, and so you pay for it but don't get a grade. That is why I suggested talking to the teacher -- He might let you observe without having to pay the fee. Whatever you decide, I wish you the best!!

I'm taking A&P II in the spring ('07) so if anyone has any advice or helpful hints, I would greatly appreciate it. I took the final for the lab today, and boy, was it something. I just pray it will click faster next semester or else I might go crazy. LOL :uhoh3:

I am pretty sure I am right on that. I will just have to talk to him and see what he says. Thanks, and it will work out one way or another.
