Hi All, I am currently taking pre-reqs at a local community college. I do plan, once I finish my pre-reqs to apply to my college's nursing program, along with a few other programs in the CT and Westchester NY area. I started this whole journey one year ago and failed miserably my first semester due to family/personal issues. It was my first semester in college and unfortunatley, I did not understand the withdrawal policy. I failed Chemisty and a Computer class (CSA 105). In my second semester I took Eng 102 and Psychology and got A's in both, and this semester (Fall 2013) I am re-taking my computer class (getting an A) and Spanish (also getting an A). My spanish class will not be factored into my nursing GPA in my school since it is not required for an ASN, but I do plan on applying to a few BSN programs as well. Next semester (Spring 2014) I am re-taking Chemistry and I am really really nervous about it. From what I hear, you need to have excellent grades in all of the science classes in order to be accepted into any Nursing program and I just did not do well in my first semester of Chemistry. I have to admit that I was not focused at all and barely studied so I am sure that this could be the reason I failed, but somehow I feel like I just didn't understand it. I took Chemistry my first semester once a week on a Saturday and my professor had a really big accent so I am hoping that I just need to pick a class that meets at least twice a week so that its not so much info crammed into one class. I plan to study everyday and attend recitation classes. My school also offers free tutoring. I AM JUST WONDERING IF THERE IS ANYONE OUT THERE WHO TRULY FELT THAT THEY WOULD DO HORRIBLE IN CHEMISTRY AND ACTUALLY PASSED IT WITH AN A OR B ??? Am I worrying for no reason? can I pass if I am not good at science or math but plan to study everyday and get a tutor?? ADVICE IS NEEDED !! p.s i plan to take AP1 over the summer and AP2 in the fall and apply for the Spring 2015 nursing program.

I had so much anxiety that I postponed going back to school for my RN for 13 years!!! Then I thought I would have an anxiety attack the first night in class. In the end I aced Chemistry and got an A and helped tutor others. Just give yourself a chance. Don't let the anxiety get to you. It will all work out and you'll do fine. I don't know that getting in a nursing program requires an A in the science courses but don't count yourself out! Good Luck!

I thought I would be horrible in chem since I barely passed it in high school. But, I managed to get a 3.6 in inorganic chem while also taking A&p. Just buckle down and study, ask for help or go to a tutor if you seem to be struggling

I'm kind of in the Sam boat. I attend goodwin college and am starting chemistry next semester and am so nervous due to all the twist and turns involved in that class. You can defiantly pass the clqss as long as your determined and focus. You can achieve anything you put your mind to and get any grade you want. Don't give up. It's worth it in the end
I currently attend Goodwin College and will be taking chemistry next semester and honestly am kinda nervous as you. I know I will pass because I want to and will do everything to pass. You can pass as long as you put your mind to it. You can achieve any grade you want by putting your mind to it.
jhurt you are right. If we want this bad enough I think we will be ok. Ive been eating slepping breathing this site lately. i cant wait until I can actually apply to a program. Ive been losing sleep over this chemistry thing but I have to realize that i am way more focused this year than i was last year. I catch on quick if im actually paying attention. ill have to check in with you once thr semester starts to see how your doing. We can do it!!

Girl, I managed to pass chem 1 & 2 with an A. I was scared to take it because I think I made a B in high school. Since I made a B in high school I just knew I would make a C in college, but I was wrong. You don't have to be good in math to make an A in chem either. I made a C in college algebra -_- You can do it. Just pay attention and don't get behind on your work.

I was so nervous about chemistry but it turned out to be my favorite pre-req class! Don't worry you'll be great! Just pay attention, do the work and you'll rock it.
