Pre- Nursing Student & HESI Entrance Exam

Nursing Students HESI

Published

Hi guys,

I am a pre nursing student getting ready to apply into nursing school. I graduated with my AA last spring. Since my school allowed it I was able to take pharmacology and critical thinking in nursing. I have to say both of these classes have really help me prepare for the nursing classes that I will be exposed to once I get into the program. Now the only thing standing in my way is passing my entrance exam which is the Hesi. I have taken it before and got a 75% on it but need a an 80% minimum to apply. The 75% score is enough to get me into the LPN program but I don't feel like going that route. I do feel a bit overwhelmed and down since I last took the test. The next application deadline is coming up in a few months but I feel so nervous about the whole thing. Anyone in a similar situation? Anyone have any suggestions?

I take the test this month. Get the hesi admissions book and study it. Take lots of practice tests. When I first started studying the math was extremely frustrating but now it's easier. I take a timed practice test 1-2times a week.

I do have the book and I'm starting to study for the test again. I think studying more in depth is a good a idea and taking a few timed test is also a really good idea. How are you feeling about taking the test?

Hi there,

I am in the same boat. I will be taking the HESI in December. The school requires Reading, math, and biology. I am super nervous.

I'm feeling better about it now. I have less than 2weeks left and I'm following my study plan. I'm focusing on reading comprehension at the moment. I need more practice than I originally thought.

Good luck. I was thinking about taking it in December as well but I may need some more time to practice and prepare. My school requires math, reading, grammar, vocabulary, anatomy and physiology, biology and chemistry. That alone gives me anxiety!!

Yeah, what I've realized is that even though the topics in math and reading seem easy it still requires practice- most of those topics I haven't done in a while.
