Pre-nursing DUD student help, What are my chances of getting into a nursing program?

I would like to know how they calculate your pre-nursing GPA? If you repeated classes, do colleges include that into your GPA for the prerequisite classes? My accumulative GPA for college right now is a 3.13 because I repeated a few classes. I took General Psychology 3 times and got an F the first two times because I was pregnant and could not keep up with the class, I got a 4.0 the third time around. And Developmental Psychology 2 times, 0.0 for the first time while pregnant and a 4.0 the second time. The past two quarters I've gotten a 3.8 grade average and I'm currently getting all above 3.5's in all the sciences. Right now I'm taking Human Anatomy and Physiology 1 and then I'm going to take A&P 2 and Micro in the next 2 quarters and I know I can get above a 3.5. What are my chances? Oh I also have a CNA certificate! Are private schools easier to get into than the state ones because there more expensive?

I think it depends a lot on the NS you're applying to. Some schools look at the just the repeated course grade and not the original grade. The NS I'm applying to deducts points for retaking courses. Since you've retaken more than one, I would look for a school that looks at the highest grade for a course. Usually an advisor will be able to tell you how they rate courses. Your pre-req GPA is good, so that will def help! And having your CNA. Do some research on schools in your area on what they're looking for. GOOD LUCK!

i applied to several schools one of them averages the grades for repeats. that realllllly hurt me. One looks at the last grade, and the rest looks at your HIGHEST grade regardless of when you took it. You would just have to know what your school's policy is. As far as private schools, they are some what "easier" to get into because not everyone wants to pay that high tuition. But keep in mind, I applied to a private school and didnt get in because most of "their students" were applying at the same time and they mostly apply for the fall so they got added points for admission purposes and most of them had lower gpas than me. So i was told to apply for the spring. So thats also a factor too, if you know that most students are ready to apply for the spring and they currently attend the school apply for the fall and vice versa. And i know about being pregnant and taking school. In fall 2008 I was roughly in my eighth and almost 9th month and i was soo exhausted. i was taking micro, chem spanish 2 and history. it was tiring but luckily i made all As and Bs. but you can do it. also schools can look and see oh well she had a circumstance that caused these grades, or oh she did bad but she is taking the time to retake and is doing much better. it just depends on your school. good luck =)

hahhhh. how bizarre, im actually moving to wichita falls in august, to go to MSU. I was just accepted to their nursing program. but you have plenty of schools in dallas..well Dallas-Ft.Worth so ill name them.. and no problem for all the questions ask away. you have ADN programs which are, Collin County, Tarrant County, El Centro, Brookhaven, Mountain View, Northlake, Weatherford. BSN you have Baylor (private) admits most transfers in the spring, Texas Womans University, Texas Christian University (private) admits most transfers in the fall. Then you have the LVN programs, El Centro and TCC. And then there are private LVNs, Platt, Concorde, Dallas Nursing Institute and I believe that is it. any more questions just ask.

that is super weird how was there admissions process for MSU, have you been to wichita falls?????????????...let me warn you...desert with 3 walmarts =D...anyway I lived there for a while what made you decide there? What was your GPA if that is not to personal and you start in the fall of 09? are you going to be on campus or living outside because there are places that are super cheap like one bedrooms or studios I believe that are 410, me and my fiance (he still lives there) near the movie thearters...trust me you will know which ones I'm talking about!

umm lets see. im not living on campus, because I have a little boy, and my boyfriend will hopefully be moving with me if all is good. I had a 3.45-3.5 somewhere in there on my prerequisites for the nursing program. you can apply there without having all of the prereqs done. i know a girl who applied and was accepted to msu without even having anatomy and physiology II done! so they arent too strict. they just want them done before you start. ive been to wichita falls before. only when i was little, but i imagine it not to be any worse than lubbock. so im okay with it not being too much to do because i need to foucs on school anyways. & im from the country so im use to it. i have been looking into apts but i cant really get a feel of just the pictures on the internet, so me and my mother are going up there next tuesday the 5th so i will try to get as much done as possible. do you remember the names of the apts so i could see if ive looked at them before. i like tealwood, washington village, fountaingate and thats about it. so any information you have would be helpful. anymore questions you have i will be happy to answer them for you. oh and also for MSU, they go off of a point system. for instance you could get 42 points if you have all of the prereqs completed with a B or better, you could get 10 points if you have a b or better in all the sciences. but they take off one point for having repeated it more than twice. but if you repeated it three times, then they take off a point. so it should hurt you that bad. there are so many more points you can get. like points for the NET and points for being a CNA, EMT, OR LVN. points for having a bachelors etc. not too difficult. im just glad i applied because i almost didnt and that would have been bad because i got denied to the rest of my schools i applied to. So im honeslty and truly thanking God.

hunter's crossing I believe!!! my fiance and I lived in a one bedroom for 550 or so a month and it was great they have a laundry site by the pool. It was right next to the movie thearters. I'm going to apply and I know I will have a college gpa of 3.4 or above and for my nursing as I stated I repeated only the psychology but the only science I got to repeat was inorganic chem. I got a 2.8 in the class for organic chem I got a 3.6 and most likely I'm going to get above 3.5's in all my other classes for sciences. Should I retake the chem? what do you think? or 2.8 is just okay? I know if I took it again I would get a 4.0 just not sure what to do? What was their admissions process like, I have been on MSU campus, in the summer time they double up on the bio's by offering them in the same symester but I don't know what to do right now?!
