Pre-employment drug screen suboxone

Nurses Recovery

Updated:   Published

I will be graduating from nursing school in a couple of weeks, and I have a pre-employment drug screen already scheduled. I have not been in active addiction for over 10yrs and am on suboxone therapy. What would happen if tested positive for suboxone with a legitimate prescription, and I have never not followed the prescription?

Thank you so much! I just hit 107 days clean from illicit Fent today and I'm feeling amazing. And thankful for the second chance. Hopefully all states will start to do this. The only thing noticeable is my license no longer says "multi-state" and says "Arizona" only but otherwise it says "unencumbered" and looks totally normal

Are you unable to travel as a nurse? Is that why it changed from multi state?

Congratulations! I'm not in your state but in my state, licenses go to single state while you're in a program. Once you're done with the program, you have to call or message them and have them change it back to multistate. I just had to take a picture of my drivers license.

Things have changed a lot I n the past few years in regards to OUD and meds. They know more about the med and what it does, or doesn't do. They now claim it is fine for long term. It's time that it's accepted across the board. I can't see how 1/2 states nurses are on the medication but in the other 1/2 they are told it isn't allowed.
