Pre-Application Jitters Here..

Published

I have finished all prerequisites required for my school's RN program. I am applying in two weeks and I have taken and passed the TEAS. I earned B's in Anatomy & Physiology 1 and in MicroBiology, but A's in all other classes leaving my GPA at 3.75. I have read many posts and heard horror stories of applicants being denied repeatedly, hoping that I will not be one of them. To anyone applying soon, how does your GPA look and what are your feelings about being accepted on your fist attempt? Now I am just waiting for acceptance or rejection, so I keep reminding myself that they'll either take me or leave me and there isn't much of anything else I can do.

I'm also applying to SCF, Edison, and I think I'm going to apply to FGCU. I know that SCF really doesn't care about your TEAS scores, and I was told by nursing admission that they only care that you pass it. SCF only looks at your pre-req GPA, which isn't too great for me, but your GPA seems stellar! Do the Edison point sheet. I assume you're applying to Charlotte campus. With that high of a GPA and a good HESI score you should get in. Do you know what your overall points are?

Hi SuperMeghan! I haven't looked at the points system yet for Edison. I went to their required orientation and have the paperwork to fill out or calculating the points, but I'm going to wait until after I take the Hesi. I was actually just visiting with an advisor this morning who told me to stop flipping out about not having a 4.0. She said someone was accepted just last semester with a 3.3. Hopefully that makes you feel better? Good luck to you, I hope we can start classes together!

I'm a Fall 2012 applicant, will be taking my TEAS at some point in the next couple of months so I'm hoping to do well on that! GPA-wise I'm fine and dandy, so I think it's all hanging on that TEAS score. My school is a points-based ranking system.

A&P 1 and 2 are worth 20 points x GPA (so 20 x 4.0 for an A earned)

Microbiology and Chem are worth 15 points x GPA

Comp 1, Psych, and Human Growth and Dev are worth 10 points x GPA

They then add in the actual points score of TEAS and the ATI critical thinking test and rank applicants accordingly. They will be accepting 16 students only!

So far I have all A's except for Comp which I took in high school when I was lazy and got a B. Taking A&P 2 and Human Growth/Dev this semester and anticipate A's so hopefully I'm in good shape. Like you, all I can do is wait and see! :)

SentimentalGeek, sounds like you're on the right track. if you're GPA is high, you'll most likely score well on your TEAS. Your GPA shows your ability to make time for studying. At State College of Florida, the TEAS is looked at as "pass or fail" so the percentages are not freakin me out yet. Lol. I'm told that l'm a nervous nellie anyway ;-)

Well I am waiting to hear whether I have been accepted also! I have a 3.85 gpa. I received an A in anatomy, algebra, sociology, psychology, English, and lifespan. I received a B in nutrition. We don't take the teas so everything is based on gpa. I should find out something by Mid Feb. I wish I could fast forward lol!

Just reading through old posts, hoping to find out how everyone is doing?? Any news from anybody here about acceptance?

I was accepted and start in the fall I can not wait:) only thing that changed is I had to retake nutrition because they say it is to old. That is good for me because now I can have a 4.0. I know I want to get my doctorate eventually so the higher the gpa the better. I finished spring semester all A's and I am taking summer classes now, waiting on fall!!!
