Prayers for COVID patients?

Nurses Spirituality

Published

We are increasingly seeing patients coming in with COVID and due to isolation and lockdowns many of these patients will not be with their families when they die. Does anyone have any poems or non religious/generic for the sick and dying patients that could be of comfort? We are anticipating huge losses, and we all need some spiritual support

As a Christian I do represent Christian theology. I also believe that when working on the clock as a nurse it is my responsibility to give comfort to a patient in such a way that it is meaningful to them (offer spiritual care etc). My point is that I would not be offended (as a pt) if a nurse asks me if I am a particular religion, or offered prayers in their religion, but I would refuse if it was not of a Christian religion (point is I would not be offended just with the asking). I would also be appreciative of any offer of nonreligious comfort and would probably accept it (ie poems etc).

Other religions except Islam do not usually proselytize. Dharmic religions in particular do not view other traditions as spawns of the devil. Had I been ignorant of religion, I might have appreciated your Christian offer.

Because I know what your religion is about and your god's attitude about religions that do not descend from Abraham, I cannot simply close my eyes, cover my ears, and pretend that I know nothing about Christianity.

Faking my appreciation for a religion that makes proselytization the goal is not something I can do. It is easy for you to give me your "advice" when you are the majority.

Just get a device on which you can help families Facetime/Skype with these patients. The family needs to visit, not empty thoughts and prayers, especially if they come from a faith they don't necessarily care for.

You're a nurse, go make things happen and get back to your other patients (you have other patients to care for, right?) leave the spiritual matters for the chaplain - they know best how to navigate all the cultures/traditions/faiths

I hope you would be my nurse when I need medical attention. This attitude is truly what makes me admire nurses. Patients need more professionals like you, NOT pastor in a nurse uniforms.

Thank you.

I got skewered in another thread for saying basically this - that matters of faith are the domain of others.

Hello Everyone,

Prayer,

Romans: 10, Verse 9, 10

Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner, and I ask for Your forgiveness. I believe You died for my sins and rose from the dead. I turn from my sins and invite You to come into my heart and life. I want to trust and follow You as my Lord and Savior.

In Jesus name Amen

When a person who confesses to God!  God hears in heaven !

Immediately the Angels of God write that persons name in Gods Book

When the Trumpet sounds he or she is lifted in the spiritual realm where the gates are opened to those who asked God in there souls.

Sigh......

You joined yesterday and make this your first, and so far, only post. Seriously?

First, I am not a sinner and I do not appreciate your presumption.

Second, not everyone on this site is christian - there are Wiccans, Buddhists, Hindus, Muslims, Bahai, Agnostics, Atheists.

How do you reconcile that if your god exists then it was him/her/it that gave us the Covid (this is a covid thread) in the first place? And please be a bit more original than, "it's all part of his plan." Because if so then his plan sucks.

Have you read this thread? You have not addressed any of the issues raised and all you are doing is running out the same old tired stuff about Jebus. It may make you feel better but it most assuredly does not make me feel better.

I will defend to the death your right to your religion but I will also defend MY right to NOT have to listen to you proselytizing and evangelizing, especially when I am ill and unable to protect myself.

If it walks like a Christian, it will talk like one ?
