Prairie View A&M students

Hi all,

Is there anyone here starting at Prairie View this Spring or currently attending? I got my acceptance letter about 2 weeks ago....I am so excited...and nervous! Can any PV students give advice on what to expect?

Hello all and good luck! I know so many students at PV and everybody take a breath lol they are not going to inform any one they got in until late october to even december! So all you can do is pray and cross your fingers until then because they are not going to let you know if you got in over the phone or by email.

I would also like to say as SOON as you get your acceptance letter please go get a Calculate with Confidence book because within 2 weeks of school you will take a drug cal test that you will have to pass with at least a 90!

Divanurse to be: Hey! it's great to see a pv student already in the program! What semester are you in? And do you think I have a chance with a Hesi score of 91%, CT: 790 and GPA: support-3.6, other- 3.4, and cumulative-3.5?

Yes, I dont see anything wrong with that, in fact I turned in my application AFTER the due date and I still got in and it was over a thousand applicants, thats why I tell people do not stress over it, if it happens it happens, just prepare yourself and have your fun NOW! lol

WOW! As of now I'm not stressing over it even with the deadline approaching. But I already know to have fun now lol. What do you do about financial aid when the deadline is Nov. 1?

Well I would go ahead and start the financial aid process now at main campus just in case, but also when they send you the acceptance letter its going to be a schlorship package enclosed with it so as soon as you get it complete it and turn it in. Also I would save up a little money for when the app comes because they only give you about a week to turn in your confirmation which includes TB skin test results, physical, your shot records, and a drug screening test from a place of there choosing. That part is frustrating because you get it and the deadline to turn all that back in is like a week! Oh yeah and there is the Good Samaritan Schlorship of Texas http://www.gsftx.org/ just give them a copy of your acceptance letter and your schedule and you are pretty much accepted I really dont know of any one they have turned down and it goes to any nursing school in Houston!

Thank you for all this advice. It is really helpful and reduces stress. I have a good feeling of getting accepted (hope my feeling is right lol) so I will look into that Good Samaritan Scholarship.

Hello everyone, I'm new to this website.

I am applying to PV houston for the spring 2012 semester. I know the deadline is october 1st, is the admissions first come first pick?

I'm afraid my chances are very low now.

I called and asked the lady at the front desk this question and she didn't seem to get what I was saying. So I don't know. I hope it's not but I'm about to finish turning in my stuff today. And I think I'll be done if they don't send anything else.

they gove you a 0 for credit by exam credit, like AP or CLEP i hate them, they gave me all these 0 or F i did not earn

I need some help please. Can someone please clarify the application process at PVAMU for me. I'm afraid I'm missing something. I just got a student ID number today.....but still haven't gotten an acceptance letter from the university.

I'm going down the checklist on what I'm supposed to send to the CON.

I've completed 55 of the 67 hours required. I'm taking the rest this semester.

My GPA is over the 2.75 minimum

I am TSI exempt

I copied my application from applytexas.org

I've paid my $25 application fee

I've sent all of my transcripts to PVAMU, and today I requested that they also be sent to the CON directly.

I made a copy of all of my official transcripts

I'm including ALL of the above in my packet that I am sending directly to the CON.

I took the Hesi A2 for another school that included the same sections that PVAMU requires. I'm also including a copy of my scores in my packet.

Can anyone think of anything I am forgetting? Am I missing something? I feel like I'm doing something wrong. What?

it seems like you did everything correct. I just received my acceptance letter and student ID from the university Monday. I've had to call up there plenty of times to finally talk to a counselor and he sent it right away. It took them 3 months to do this when it shouldn't have. But call up there to the admissions department and tell them your situation. Don't talk to PVlive because they can't help you in any way. But you should have the acceptance first then another letter saying your ID and password to your email.

Also call the CON and ask them do you have everything to make sure. Or email mrs. A.
