Prairie View A&M Prospective Students (Spring 2012)

I am applying to PV for spring 2012. I notice that PV changed their deadline from September 1 to October 1. (I wonder why???) I turn in my transcripts last week. After my transcript was reviewed I was given a pre-nursing database with the following information:

-63 hours completed

-University GPA 3.18 (non-science course)

-Support Area GPA 3.53 (science course)

-Cumulative Department GPA 3.35

-HESI scores: Math 84, Reading 89, A&P 92, Grammer 92, and Critical Thinking 830.

Now, I have to wait patiently for a letter. I heard it takes up to 3-4 months.

If anybody else is applying for PV spring 2012 I would be more than glad to hear from you, and if you want, share your info with us.

(I am also applying at UT-Houston but I feel that my GPA is not high enough for their program.)

Hi.. I got the purple letter yesterday in mail. What is the acceptance letter? I only received the purple letter and updated student database with it.. Please help!

i think once you get the purple letter, youre one step closer to getting accepted... or something like that. i still havent received my purple letter yet.... but i turned in my app 30th of Sep.. hopefully ill get my purple letter in soon. i read on the older threads that as soon as you receieve your purple letter, send it back QUICK!

I haven't gotten a purple letter yet either, but PVAMU does have my transcripts in their system now. Yay:) Does anyone know if we can test out of that computer class we need? Most every college requires you to be computer literate to graduate, but they don't require you to actually take a class on it, ugh! I would have to take it during the mini-mester.

@katybusymom, yeah.. i know what you mean... but i dont think thats the case with PVAMU. you might want to double check with them, but theyre very adament about their students completing all of the credits before the nursing school starts. I had to take mine during the summer.. it was easy.. but soo damn boring!

On page 4 it says "Only nursing courses from a nationally accredited baccalaureate program may be considered for possible transfer credit. Pass/Fail courses are not accepted." Maybe that's the same thing as testing out of the course.

I havent got my acceptance letter from pvamu.. Do u tjink thats an issue? I mean... How can u get rejected by them? Lol... Hopefullly ill hear something this week.

You have to stay on top of the university...it took them 3 months to send my acceptance letter. So keep calling because other than that you will be waiting....and waiting....and waiting lol.

AH210= thanks. Yeah, i emailed them last week and somebody called me and told me the reason they havent processed my application was bc they were missing my militaty transcript.. I was thinking like.. Why didnt they email or call me? Bc i originally applied august.. Its october now... Gosh. So is the acceptance a letter or a packet? And whats the next step after being aceepted to pvamu? Do i need to do anything?

No one notified me either. Their reason for me is they thought I went to 3 schools when I didn't and told them that 3 times. I finally talked to an advisor and he took care of it on a wednesday and got the letter on that monday. But it's a packet. It will have your student I.D. and email username. Another letter will follow with the password. The packet just has information about the university and a little card that you need to send back to let them know what semester you will be attending and if you're a freshman or transfer. I'm not going to send that in until I hear from the CON. I have also started on my financial aid just incase. Also, when I received the acceptance letter, I sent a copy of it along with the purple form back to the CON so they could see I got in.

Ok, well I guess I will sign up for a computer class at HCC for the second 8wks while I wait to see if I have been accepted......I checked my panthertracks yesterday and ALL of my other classes transferred over YAY!!!

You have to stay on top of the admissions people. I hadn't received my acceptance letter either. When I called to ask why, they told me that they were waiting on my transcript from HCC. I only put HCC as a possible place that I might take classes in the fall to finish my pre-req's, and they were waiting on a transcript from them.......I had never attended HCC in the past, so they would have been waiting a long time, lol

hey you guysss, =) i got my purple letter today plus my acceptance letter from PVAMU. Hehehe i really hope this is a good sign.. ?? =)

what's the acceptance letter everyone's talking about? The one to the school? Or to college of nursing?
