Just wondering if there is a good similarity in the practice exam score and actual test score. ie will you have a good chance of getting about the same on the real test. Also what is the passing score? what is considered "good" for a practice exam score? Thanks!

Hello!

I took the NCLEX on the 13th and studied for about 4 days using only the Kaplan online trainers. They are VERY helpful, and I highly recommend them. I passed in 75 questions and to be honest I had planned on that happening. Even though when I took the exam I felt like i didn't know anything, the Kaplan questions really prepared me to make educated guesses.

Kaplan questions are VERY much like the ones that you will encounter on the NCLEX. Just do ALL of the questions you can, whenever you can. Like while you're watching TV or something.

My only piece of advice is to be sure to read ALL of the rationales on the ones that you get wrong AND correct, and you will be ready in no time!!

GOOD LUCK!

Matt

OMG I realized I didn't answer your original question! HAHA. The Kaplan instructor that my school hired told us that anything over a 60% is a good sign that you will pass. You should aim to be in the 67%-75% area it you can, though. Keep on doing them until you can consistently get those scores and you will be ready!

I think she was referring to Excelsior's practice exam vs. Excelsior actual exam. I'm only assuming that b/c we are on the distance learning forum. There are some ppl who get 60%-70% on the practice exams and get an A or B on the actual exam. C is a passing grade for Excelsior exam..doesn't give numbers..just letter grade. I hope that answers your question. Good luck!

I usually get low-mid 60's, 70's on Form A without studying, and after studying I get high 70's, low 80's.

So far, I've gotten all A's on the real thing, except for Chronicity, in which I got a B, but the practice exams were on the same range... go figure! Have LS2 and 3 left (plus Micro and Devel. Psych).

Good luck!

Yes I was talking about Excelsiors practice exams vs nursing exams. I got a 74 on my form A and didnt really know what I should make of that. Obviously I am going to study more and take B in a week or so. Didnt really know what was considered "good" they don't really explain that on the test. Thanks for the answers that helped!

A 74 on Test A is very good!! You should do well on that test.
