Hi...I have a question. Are their any nursing programs that any of you are involved in that allow you to practice needle techniques on each other during in our skills labs? Or do all the programs not allow it anymore?

In canada, it's not allowed but in some countries like philippines, they're still doing that.

I have heard of some private schools allowing it, but not in public ones.
Our public university participates in a health fair in the state. Those students who wish to participate take an extra phlebotomy class and are allowed to do blood draws there... LOTS of them.

in the state of Maryland no nursing student is allowed to do venous punctures. We do give injections, but not to one another - to the simulators or pads made for this purpose.
the only thing we do to one another as far as needles is glucose checks.

they dot even teach us venous punctures at all, not even on manikins or pads.. we did have the option of giving saline sub q injections to each other if we wanted.. no IMs, but we do them on patients.. who would want an IM for no reason? haha ouch. sub qs are painless though.

In EMT school, we practiced IV, IM, and SQ injections on each other. By the end of my semester, I looked like a drug user! But, in nursing school we aren't allowed to even poke each other with a TOOTHPICK for pain sensation. They are pretty strict about it. I think it's kind of funny, actually! I'm really grateful for the live-patient experience I got in EMT school! I'd hate to start my first IV on a real patient!
