I've done a bunch of searches about donning and removing PPE and they are all different!! So I decided to go by the list below, I was just wondering if you all could tell me if you thought it was correct:

Donning: wash hands, gown, mask, eye, gloves

Removing: gloves, wash hands, mask, gown, eye

THANK YOU GUYS! YOU'RE THE BEST!!!:icon_hug:

glamgal,

I believe that's correct but for donning I have washing your hands after removing gown and then mask and eyewear and the washing your hands again

According to the CDC on page 37, glamgal you are correct. Here's the source: http://www.cdc.gov/ncidod/dhqp/pdf/guidelines/Isolation2007_appendixA.pdf.

Good luck, I take the NCLEX on thursday.

I thought for PPE. We wash hands and then remove the mask, so one doesn't risk to transmit to the face. Then remove the gown, and throw away in the room before leaving. Please clarify this! If I am wrong, I would like to find the correct way.....thanks!:redbeathe

If you read page 38 of the link to cdc it states last thing to do is wash hands. My way of thinking is that the mask can still get contaminated so washing hands before remove will re contaminate you. Really good description on page 38 on removal of PPE
