postpartum doula

Im currently going to school to be an lpn and thinking of becoming of a postpartum doula, plus I have a baby. Can I handle it...?

Likely, only you can answer that. How much support do you have in caring for your own baby? It would be quite difficult if you were a single Mom with few options or rigid child care options. PPD's certainly have a more regular schedule than labor doulas but still it requires a lot of time away from your family. How do you handle exam days when you also have a client that requests you? Maybe you could partner with another PPD to provide services and have an on call situation so that you could cover eachother?

I think it is definitely doable, but you should start by contacting a PPD and taking her to lunch. Ask her about all the details re: the business. Look for the little stuff that youwouldn't think of, and then plan around that. That will help you get a good grasp on whether it is feasible.

I am a labor doula, and I believe you can do it. It is very flexible. Visit these website for more great info:
