My ward as I posted earliar has gone acute.
Great sucess nice med team nice consultant who addressed me andevery other nurse by name much better, than being called staff if spoke to at all(former consultant)
Acute pt take more nursing time and more skills, management skills, dealing with famillies with endless questions
sometimes using sho/spr to deal with them is great.
However at times I'm having to remember stn placements to deal with situations so glad I always said thank you and left presssie cause certain buses taught me more than I thought and although I ask questions i find we all can be stumped.
So degree time to get structured knowledge into the mix to balance the real time experience. how do I approach my ward manager I. Have seen module at the local uni I like will help and will self fund but would like to be able to negiate any class tome etc.

That's good news Ayla, I started my degree quite late in my career (I'd been qualified 10 years) and have been studying ever since.
Which modules are you looking at?
Sorrry for the poor layout on previous post using iPhone as comp poorly.
Modules well I want to consolidate and build on knowledge.
there is an acute assesments module appproite as the more I can report to say on call
makes 4 better pt care we, we now have e drug cards so meds could be presribed
if required to tie the pt over. Also i find medical staff do respond better to nurses who are objective they even teach.
Other area mentorship, rreseach mod, pain, wound care maybe
leadarship since what I've seen has been so poor above ward level.

Ha posting via iPhone I feel your pain. I find the spell checker puts in words I don't want then I struggle to change it
The clinical assessment modules are good but you need to make sure you practice skills afterwards.
I found clinical supervision a very helpful module as well I'm quite a reflective practitioner so it helped me focus those reflections and help others facilitate thiers
pain or wound modules sound good too, very appropriate and will help when you are ready to progress into management as will leadersip
oh desicions
Let us know what you choose
Had a chat with my ward manager. She is supportive
of what I want to doand get trust support in fees or time.
I may have to do the mentorship mod first and have a learning contact.
