Post MSN question

Nurses General Nursing

Published

So, I will have my MSN in administration and a MBA next year. I’m trying to keep my options open and would like as many opportunities as I can possibly get. I was wondering if I had to go through a nurse practitioner track in order to go through a post MSN certification course that would grant me my PMHNP? I’m not sure if this is possible so I figured you guys would know.

Specializes in OB.

Yes, if both of your master's degrees are non-clinical then you would need to go through an NP program to get a post-master's certificate to become a PMHNP.

Specializes in OB-Gyn/Primary Care/Ambulatory Leadership.

And you would also have to so 750-1000 hours of clinical, since your master's degrees are not in advanced-practice nursing.

Specializes in orthopedic/trauma, Informatics, diabetes.

Here, the market is so saturated, it is very hard to find clinical sites (and most programs are not super helpful). I have an MA in teaching and an MSN in Informatics. Thought about getting NP for endocrinology, but a Post Masters certificate is hard to get paid for and the issue of clinical issue is whacked
