Hi everyone,
Thank you for looking at my complicated question;).
So to break it down, I already have a MSN in nursing education. I am looking for a online program (or minimal travel) for a post masters FNP certificate. But a program that has multiple start dates or at least lets new admits start in the spring. I know Kaplan and Chamberlain do but does anyone know of any others? I feel like I have tore the internet down with my search.
Thank you everyone

The only ones with multiple start dates that I know of are Chamberlain, Kaplan, Walden, Herzing, WGU, etc. Basically, the online for-profit schools. The rest usually have a Fall start date, although some do have Winter (Jan) or Summer (May/June) starts. Most of the schools with summer start dates are already past the application deadline, unfortunately. In the grand scheme of things, a few months isn't going to make that much of a difference. You just really need to look at your local market for NPs and find out how the online schools are perceived, in terms of hiring new NP grads. I know where I'm located, it would be difficult for me to get a job as an Acute Care NP in the hospital because they prefer your degree to be from a brick-and-mortar school. Other hospitals outside this area have no preference. It definitely pays to do some legwork and make contacts so you know you're pursuing the right avenue.
Good luck on your decision

Yes, all of the schools you have cited are for-profits except WGU. I have included a link that could really be a primer for not going near these schools or really their loan mill oriented business schemes.
The problem with them is not that they don't educate, it's just that they have lost the focus of their mission to educate people in sufficient numbers that could justify the rather high tuition they charge. This assertion is evidenced by their low graduation and retention rates. Their goal is to "put asses in classes" with little emphasis on student success.
For instance if you go to (collegescorecard.ed.gov) and enter South University Online you will see that over an allowable six year tabulation period they have a graduation rate of 2%. That is astounding when you think that they are still recruiting NP students without telling them this fact upfront; and for that matter who would sign on the dotted line if they knew this fact alone. (but there is so much more)
What really takes the cake is that the school's themselves supply these data to the Department of Education who publishes them in order to provide the transparency the for-profits and others eschew.
So word to the wise, be careful with your choices. The low-down on these schools is there hiding in plain site, you just have to dig a little.
Go to the most reputable school you can find. The reign of the for-profits is quickly coming to an end and along with ITT tech and Corinthian we will will be seeing more of them shuttering without warning in 2017.
Good luck with your search and tread carefully and especially don't be in a rush.
