Possible relocation (very soon!) to Tampa area: Best affordable places to live

Nurses Job Hunt

Published

I will be interviewing sometime next week for a GN residency in Tampa next week. I have no idea if I have a chance, but I have worked so hard to even get an interview. I'm praying it will work out. The problem is that I will have very little time to look for a place to live and figure out how I will relocate from MD by the 2nd wk of February. I don't have much money to spare, but I want to live somewhere that is safe, clean, and quiet. Am I crazy for trying to do this without seeing where I'll be living or working? I lived in the St.Pete for college years ago, so I am somewhat familiar with the area, but from what I've heard it has really grown since then.

I'm by myself so it's a bit overwhelming. To complicate things, I finally got an offer at the hospital where I work in MD but I hate the cold and the snow and already got the FL license. I tentatively accepted the job here before I found out I could interview for FL job next week. I have to "officially" accept the MD job online and have until the end of next week. I would hate to ruin the only job offer I've had since I've been trying x6 months, but I loved living in Florida and feel like it could be a new start.

So, if anyone that can offer any recommendations as far as affordable safe places to live or has any experience relocating from up north I'd really appreciate your input. Thanks!

suzyQ555,

I tried to PM you, but it looks like I haven't been a member long enough in order to do that. Is there anyway you could PM me your email address so that I can send a reply to you?

Thanks!

Rebecca

I just tried to reply to your message, but it says your message box has to be cleared to accept any more messages!

Sorry about that! I just cleared it haha, so you can send a message if you'd like! Weird how you can only have 5 messages in your inbox for it to be full!

That is weird! Maybe you have to read them to get them out of your inbox? Anyway, I'm really happy for you! I know it must have been stressful with all of the interviews, but it looks like you did really well! I on the other hand have not been having too much success no matter how hard I try. I tried to call HR around 10 am and asked to speak to a nurse recruiter/educator, but they basically said Raj is the only one that can get this set up. They also may be totally sick of me and decide to say forget it. The HR person tried to call him while I was on the line but said he was in a meeting. She said she could put me through to his voice mail but I told her I had his number and have left several messages in the last few days. She wasn't too much help. So, I guess at this point unless I get a call today with an actual interview set up, I'm going to accept the job here, and take my time to look around Florida and see where I will have a better response and handling of things. I'll keep you posted. Congratulations!
