possible move to N.C.need advice re:area

We would like to move to N.Carolina within the next 1-2 years. My husband loves to fish the Outer Banks..however I still need to work. He will probably retire and work Part time.

I am in the pharmaceutical industry and know that most major pharmas including my company are in RTP. Can anyone name a few nice places to live that would be half way between OBX and RTP?

We have no clue where to begin. Looking at a map it appears Tarboro, Edgecomb and Rocky Mount are a few nice places I have searched on the inet.

Any info would be much appreciated....Thanks so much. :)

My husband and I moved IN August from Tarboro,actually, to FL and are planning on moving back further to the north(maybe SC).Tarboro is a nice SMALL town.Edgecombe County is a very rural/depressed area in general.Many welfare patients.Rocky Mount is a nice town @ 20 minutes to the west of Tarboro and is growing slowly. Greenville is larger as it is a college town and the hospital there is a "hub" hospital for UHS of Eastern Carolina. If we decide not to move to SC we will be moving back to NC and I will be working at PCMH where there are many job and educational opportunities.Have any other questions? I'll be happy to help ya out if I can!

Food for thought--I was offered $14/hr at a LARGE MD office in Greenville in 2002--and, you were required to wear all white including all white shoes--no color on them at all!!!! So, you may want to rethink the Greenville area--not that great of a town either!

I know for a fact that many of the MD offices in Greenville NOW are paying nurses well - comparable to PCMH. And I beg to differ about Greenville as well. Greenville has excellent variety, good quality of life, excellent climate (near the sunny beaches!), and the people overall are great.

My opinion stands on Greenville, perhaps it's due to the fact that I've lived all over the US and in many more interesting places than Greenville with more variety in the way of cultural, dining and leisure activities. And, my idea of being close to the beaches is being less than an hour away. Just my personal feelings, just like you have your personal feelings, right? That's what makes this world so interesting and diverse.
