  1. I work at a busy ASC and we draw up all of the fentanyl etc... and then administer it in increments. Wastage is recorded on the narcotic sign out sheet. We also have to have a 2nd RN witness each dose of the narcotics.
  2. I have previously worked at an HCA facility in Florida and the conditions there were appalling. It was filthy and extremely understaffed. Ratio was @ 1: 8-10 . Travel nurses who had received sign on bonuses inevitably worked 1 shift and never returned. Will never work for this company again.
  3. My question is: Is she normally as particular with HER patients as she was regarding herself? In my experience the nurses who micromanage and over-criticize are the most insecure individuals and if they don't get others fired they can drive truly good nurses away if management allows it.
  4. So.where will you be living in NC?
  5. Hi! Yey! I am back in NC! Working for a travel agency now for a 13 week contract.THe hospital system I'm working for is the same one I worked for several months ago as staff and they are much more progressive regarding some things here than where I was in FL.The pay scale here is also better. As far as the traffic situation there is NO comparison as I was mainly driving on US 19 most of the time and as you know, your life is definitely at risk on this road!Don't miss that at all!
  6. Hi! I have lived in NC over a period of 6 years and we moved to the Tampa area several months ago.Are planning on going back up to SC or NC as we are not happy here.I have found that the hospitals in FL(at least this area) are very behind in terms of general healthcare. Some of them are truly horrendous ,dirty and with terrible staff ratios etc.... Am currently working at one of the better ones in the state and it doesn't compare to the quality of hospital you'll find in NC/Raleigh and east of there .I have also heard that the western part of the state has very nice healthcare systems but can't really tell you about the school systems..Of course,I worked for UHS of Eastern Carolina and I think they are pretty progressive regarding patient care. The pay in FL is lower and the cost of living is higher.Traffic is usually very heavy in this area also. NC schools are state sponsored .I believe that FL schools are not.
  7. HI Pete! I have worked for PCMH in the past and may be going back up there in the near future to work.Aside from the other "normal" pre-employment routines they require that you take the PBDS test which I have taken there and here in FL.If you need more specific info regarding this test you can go to the "Delphi Forum" website and in the travel nurse section there have been many posts regarding this specific test.It is a pain to take as they require the nurse to actually diagnose what's wrong with the pt. and you have to be very specific about exactly how you would handle the situation;what you would expect the doc to order and why.All within ,I think, a 7 minute period for each vignette you view. Very stressful ! Some of the posts in the delphi forum have listed the specific situations and I intend to review them before I go anywhere else(which will probably be very soon). If you have any more questions please let me know.OK?! Good luck!
  8. Hi! My husband and I moved IN August from Tarboro, actually, to FL and are planning on moving back further to the north(maybe SC).Tarboro is a nice SMALL town.Edgecombe County is a very rural/depressed area in general. Many welfare patients.Rocky Mount is a nice town @ 20 minutes to the west of Tarboro and is growing slowly. Greenville is larger as it is a college town and the hospital there is a "hub" hospital for UHS of Eastern Carolina. If we decide not to move to SC we will be moving back to NC and I will be working at PCMH where there are many job and educational opportunities.Have any other questions? I'll be happy to help ya out if I can!
  9. Hi! I'm new to this forum ! We are currently living in FL but may be moving in the very near future to SC to be closer to family. Am thinking about going to Georgetown/Waccamaw Hospitals .Do you know anything about them? Any info would be helpful! Thanks!
