Possibility to work as an RN in California?

World Registration

Hi! Good day to all! These are my concerns: I am currently residing in San Mateo Area in California but finished my studies as a nurse in the Philippines, I did submit an application to Board of Nursing in Ca. but unfortunately from their respond letter I have to get some of units that need to be completed in medical, surgical and pediatrics. My question: Is there's anyway I can submit an application for Nursing exam and get approved to other States even I am don't reside there?and just in case being fortunate to pass the exam in other State, will I be able to work here in California as a Registered Nurse? Do I have to take any exams here or is there's any requirements to do that? Any idea how much will it cost if I will just complete all the 32 units required to be able to take an exam in Ca.? Thank You so much. I am really glad I found this site.

Specializes in Medical and general practice now LTC.

Even if you meet another states requirements, pass NCLEX and license is issued you cannot work as a nurse in CA without a CA license. Therefore same issues will still be there.

Specializes in Acute Care, Rehab, Palliative.

It won't matter if you do manage to get a license in another state, you will not be able to endorse to CA without meeting the requirements.

hey, how can you apply without a social security number?

There's a very good chance that she's either a US citizen but happened to get her BSN from overseas or she's a dual citizen. CA BRN requires the SS# on the initial application form or it will be automatically rejected as an incomplete application and any fees submitted is subjected to not getting any refund of monies sent in.
