After finishing a long, but successful spring semester, yesterday was the first day of summer semester. Call me crazy but I am actually excited about taking a full load in the summer! I've listened to chatter and the neigh sayers about how foolish I am about taking anatomy 2 and micro all in the same semester. Also I have to retake psych and English because of my lack of interest my freshman year in 08. But its something about the challenge! Considering nursing school is just as challenging or even more, I thought to myself... why not prepare? Today was the first day of micro, and I can honestly say I am in LOVE! Didn't think I would be at first, but I am very surprised! I take the Teas next month, and I will not stress. During the break I had before summer semester began my focus was the Teas, and will remain on my down time!

I love to communicate with people that have a positive attitude who are just as determined as I am. I would love to hear stories about other peoples journey into the nursing field! What classes interest you the most? Where do you plan on going to nursing school? Having your taken the Teas?

Good luck and congratulations with everything! :) I'm fairly behind considering where I want to be right now, but life happens. At this rate I'll be applying for the LPN program at Columbus State Community College (in Ohio) next spring and hopefully starting the program in Fall.

My favorite courses so far have been the human development psychology course and medical terminology. I took biology as a gen ed and really enjoyed that as well.

More power to ya that you love micro! I had a terrible teacher and was counting down the days till the end of the semester. Go kill it!

Do it! Never listen to the nay sayers. ..they love to bring others down to thier misery...that being said I did 4 classes...full full full full load!!! My first summer and am glad I did...now work as an RN and often look back at that time...5/6 days week 16 hrs day...for inspiration! Now a 12 hr shift...pshsaaahh! I did that for 4 months straight I can handle any challenge that comes my way! Thx for an uplifting post!

When I was asking for feedback about A&P, a lot of students told me to drop the class because the professor was extremely hard. "A" students scraped by with "C's". I stuck with it because for once in my life I wanted challenge myself and I ended up making an "A" in the course. I am only taking micro in the fall, but I am still looking forward to it. I personally wouldn't take A&PII with micro because I know how much commitment it took in A&P and I don't think I can dedicate equal amount of time between each class if I took them together. That is ME though, if you can do it more power to you! It is great to go in with a positive attitude.

Attitude determines direction! Good luck :)

I am taking a full load this September for my first semester.

Everyone is telling me not to take full load.

I have two young kids. I work part time.

I am taking my BSN as a challenge.

WE CAN DO IT.

Thanks guys for your kind words! We can do it! Even over the past couple of days I have fully learned the importance of TIME MANAGEMENt! Haha! I'm taking everyday in stride!

I took A&P 2 and micro in the same semester even though every advisor was so against it, and that same semester they made a new rule that nobody can take A&P 1 or 2 with micro, but I did it anyways. I had a B in micro until the final, then an A and an A in A&P 2 the whole semester. It's totally possible and easier if you actually like what you're learning. I LOVED micro and for A&P I had the same teacher for 1 and 2 so I knew her test style and teaching style and she was great. I took those classes with psych, English, and Spanish. It's totally doable with a full load. Best of luck to you and everyone else.

I just got accepted into a nursing program that starts in Aug. I have tried for so long and it seemed like I wasn't meant to be in school at those times. Just too much stuff going on. I started when I was 19, made a D in AP 1 becuase I was so lost and had no clue what the heck i was doing. Then I took a few years off went back and it just seemed like an up hill battle that i could never climb. This past summer when I went with my husband to his orientation for Physical Therapist Assistant school I decided I would go back. So I started in August and to my surprised I only needed 6 classes which I thought I needed more. So I took a full load that fall, passed AP 1 with an A, and B's in nutrition, English, and Sociology(mainly becuase I hated that class lol) I just finished this last semester with a 4.00 after taking Microbiology and AP 2 together. I think my most favorite classes had to be the psychology ones. Its hard to believe I am finally at this point in my life where I am actually going to nursing school. I always wanted to be a nurse but just kinda thought I would never get too and now here I am about to enter into a nursing program!

That sounds like my situation. Except I had the same teacher for AP 1/2 and for micro! I made an A in all those classes.
