  1. Thank you! I don't mind going to clinicals. Its just that through Excelsior the exit clinical exam is 7 hours away from me, and that is both places in Texas that it's offered. I have actually been looking into Allegany College of Maryland so maybe I have found the one!!! Thank you so much.
  2. Help! I am currently an LVN in Texas. I am wanted to advance me career but being a busy mom and wife its hard for me to go the traditional route of school. So I am looking into online programs. I am about 4 classes shy of my pre-reqs for Bachelors. I am really interested in just getting my associates degree. Are there any online LVN to RN programs that I should look into? I am having such a hard time finding anything that isn't the BSN route. I do not want to go Excelsior route d/t the exit clinical exam would be about 7 hours away. Thank you for your help.
  3. Honey you can do this. Coming from a second semester nursing student who has gone through a divorce her first semester and is now a single mom to TWO girls, now 7 and 3. Its imperative to have them on a good sleep schedule because that's when I study, and having a good support system (thank you mom and dad!) It isn't easy but possible
  4. I am not sure if you're wanting to do ASN or BSN but I do know that our science classes are good for 5 years here in Texas. Also I was looking into getting my BSN after I finish my LVN school, and I didn't see anywhere that you have to take Texas history, but US history.
  5. Wow that's awesome! I can understand how hard a choice that would be for you. Especially since Kiamichi is closer to you. I would just look at all the pros and cons of BOTH schools. Good luck on your decision!
  6. I got my orientation packet today!!!! It's getting close!!!! Gotta set up my background check and fingerprinting!!! Oh my gosh it's getting more and more real. Have you gotten yours yet>
  7. Oh my yes that's a drive. I just finished my pre reqs at PJC. I'm so excited about orientation!
  8. Yay a fellow student!!!! Orientation is June 25th at 9 am. We are supposed to meet at the Rogers health science building. They are doing all the campus nursing classes together so I imagine it will be pretty large. I live in Sulphur Springs so I gotta travel a ways. Not sure when the orientation ends tho.
  9. That sounds like my situation. Except I had the same teacher for AP 1/2 and for micro! I made an A in all those classes.
  10. I just got accepted into a nursing program that starts in Aug. I have tried for so long and it seemed like I wasn't meant to be in school at those times. Just too much stuff going on. I started when I was 19, made a D in AP 1 becuase I was so lost and had no clue what the heck i was doing. Then I took a few years off went back and it just seemed like an up hill battle that i could never climb. This past summer when I went with my husband to his orientation for Physical Therapist Assistant school I decided I would go back. So I started in August and to my surprised I only needed 6 classes which I thought I needed more. So I took a full load that fall, passed AP 1 with an A, and B's in nutrition, English, and Sociology(mainly becuase I hated that class lol) I just finished this last semester with a 4.00 after taking Microbiology and AP 2 together. I think my most favorite classes had to be the psychology ones. Its hard to believe I am finally at this point in my life where I am actually going to nursing school. I always wanted to be a nurse but just kinda thought I would never get too and now here I am about to enter into a nursing program!
  11. I have to say this. What did you expect? What you mentioned you are doing is EXACTLY what a CNA does. I also believe every potential nursing student should have to work as a CNA because it does give you valuable experience and those are things that even a nurse will possibly be doing. I will say they shouldn't label this as a Rehab facility if every one is hospice. It's sad to watch a patient die, but everyone dies and there is a certain rewarding feeling you have knowing you were the last person to give care and show this dying patient some dignity. After all, they are in the end. If you can't handle one day, I wonder how you will handle being a nurse?
  12. I am 29 and just got accepted first try into a program and I start in August! It has taken me off and on about ten years to get where I am. I just finished the semester of my last two pre reqs with a 4.0. I wasn't the best High school student either. It does take hard work and dedication but you have to have faith in yourself that you will and can do it. If it's your true passion go for it.
  13. Thank you. I start in August and I am so overwhelmed with so many different emotions. I am excited yet scared as to what to expect. I have been working on this dream for nearly 10 years and to see it finally unfolding is just unbelievable!
  14. I am currently taking AP II and Microbiology, holding an A in both. I also have two young kids, so it can be done. Yes it's a lot of work and studying, but not impossible. I would suggest if you plan on doing that not taking the humanities as that may be too much.
  15. I just received my acceptance letter yesterday also. It's an exciting new journey thats for sure.
