Portland Community College 2021/2022

Published

Hi

I didn’t see a thread for PCC so I want to start one. Maybe we can all stay in contact and updated. I applied to OHSU and I didn’t get in, waiting in Linfield and Concordia. Where had everyone else applied?

I got in with these stats:

3.84 general GPA, 3.8 prerequisite GPA, 52/58 points, 100+ hrs of volunteering, 2000+ work hours and certification, Chemistry course, medical terminology, completed all of my prereqs at PCC, and previous degree.

I applied with the same stats last year, EXCEPT I still needed to finish my last A&P course. I met with an advisor afterward and they told me that the people who made it to phase II last year had all of their prerequisites completed.

That is really helpful information. Thank you! And congrats! I'm wondering if my CNA certificate will count, I am no longer certified because I stopped working and didn't meet hours, but I DID earn my certification and worked as a CNA full time for a year.

My CNA certification expired during the time of my application and it did not count. However the hours I worked as a CNA counted. I applied with a scribe certification!

Congratulations!! And thank you! Which Chemistry classes did you do? Would I be crazy to do a chem with an A&P?

I got 2 Chemistry: 151 ( in california and transfer to PCC) and 221 (at PCC). It depends how much time you will use for studying. I amn’t a native English speaker, so I got two classes separately because I worked full time and I was afraid of A&P. However, I think taking two classes at the same time is doable if you organize and focus more on studying and find a great professors. If you need to work, consider about that. For A&P, I studied the first one with Dr. Collin, the 2nd and last with Prof. Jenifer Hill. For Chem, I studied with prof. Stephanie Bryan (remote)

Take the 2 unit library class for the same extra point! It is seriously helpful for all the papers you write in the first year.

Library knowledge is something EVERY  one should gain in college. It is the greatest spot to enhance your papers or you knowledge! Even after my BSN and MSN I go to the library to learn more about a specifies subject. Do not think the internet is you only source for papers or additional knowledge. Spoon feeding with internet sites provided, skimmed and limited to just the topic at hand will provide a stunted knowledge base. A censured basis that does not profit your expert growth.
