Hey do you guys know which Chemistry course on portage is equivalent to taking organic chem ?

I recommend taking a look at the description in the syllabus/catalog.  Additionally, you can find equivalencies in a couple of online databases.

Hi all. I am doing Chem 121 as my last pre-req and I’m having a pretty hard time with it. Does anyone have the links to the Youtube channels mentioned above? Or honestly any tips or advice at all would be HUGELY appreciated. I did pretty well on all my pre-reqs and this one I am just hoping to pass at this rate! If you’d prefer to email me links my email is [email protected] Thank you in advance!!

Hi did anyone get back to you with links? If so can you email them to me at [email protected] I’m confused as to why this course requires you to use a webcam along with the lockdown browser

Sorry, I haven’t gotten anything yet. I can def send to you if I ever do. I will say I’m now a few modules in and slowly getting the hang of it, it’s just taking a TON of work/time.

I did not get anything back from anyone but am now a little over half way through the course and can at least offer some advice that I hope is helpful! I did find a Youtube channel called Organic Chemistry Tutor whose videos were helpful when I didn't understand concepts, particularly for things with a visual component like balancing equations and Lewis Structures. Also, emailing the professor and getting practice problems for areas I didn't understand was useful. I do think that the first two modules were the hardest in terms of material and that it has gotten easier. The labs are also a super helpful way to pad your grade a little if the exams are hard for you. Overall I have found that it takes A LOT of time for me to get through everything and understand it well enough to get a decent grade on the exams. Once I got used to dedicating the majority of my free time to this class it got better LOL. Sorry I can't be of more help but let me know if you have any other questions.

Thank you so much! I am at the end of module 2 and dedicate every second I have to try to learn all of the equations. I have found the student services hotline to be helpful! This is an incredibly tough course and I’m glad I’m not the only one who thinks so!

You're definitely not alone in that! Unless the rest of the course I have left takes a turn for the worse though you are almost through the hardest part!

Good luck! Want to provide a little reassurance that the class is totally doable! I was very scared I’d fail and ultimately did pretty well... just had to dedicate a TON of time to it!

Thank you Lily!

Hey guys! I just started my first week in Chemistry 121 and I must say even with devoting all of my free time to this class.. I am SCARED. Long story short.. I have my associates degree in health science. my SCIENCE GPA for the school I have applied to must be a 3.2. The student advisor said I HAVE to receive an A in this class to start this fall as a junior in the nursing program. I'm nearing the end of the first module and am starting to get the feeling of anxiety! It's becoming a bit overwhelming! I'm also on a time crunch and have to be done in 8 weeks. UGH can anyone give me ANY advice? Does it get any better?
