Poll: Was your anatomy & physio separate or combined?

Published

I start nursing school next week, and my school's nursing program required that the anatomy & physiology prereqs be taken as two separate, 4-credit hour lab classes. It looks like the majority of people on here took them combined in A&P. Did you like your format, either combined or separate? Did you think the classes were difficult? I enjoyed mine as separated. Thanks for your replies! :D

Separate... I really enjoyed it!

A&P at my school is combined, which I think I like better than separated.

A&P is separate at my school and anatomy is not a prerequisite for physiology. I'll be taking both this coming fall semester.

We had A/P 1 (4 credits) one semester, then A/P 2 (4 credits) another. I loved it that way!

Ditto!

Mine was one combined, there was very little anatomy in my class though. I think I learned more anatomy from my medical terminology class! If I could do it over I would take them separately.

At my college, anatomy and physiology is technically one class, but you have a lab once a week that's about 2 and a half hour, then a lecture that's twice a week for about an hour to an hour and 15 minutes. They are two separate classes and are graded separately, but averaged together for one grade. I'll be taking the class this semester, but I have no issue with it. It's just like any other class that requires a lab.

Hi fellow Springfieldian! What school are you going to? I am doing my pre-reqs at OTC and then transferring to MSU for my BSN.
Sorry I missed your reply! I am going to Cox College. How was your semester?
I've taken A&P combined it was 1 and two.

Same here :D

Separate. I had Anatomy one semester and Physiology the next. I prefered them separated. A little bit of physiology was thrown into Anatomy but it wasn't heavy material. The classes are as hard as you make it!

I had combined A&P. I think it was good for me because I found out what the structure was and how it worked in human body. We didn't go over ALL the structures tho. Just the ones that had significant importance. A&P 2 was a little harder 1 than because there were way more structures and functions to remember...especially the digestive system.

My A&P 1 and 2 were combined and each had a required Lab. I thought most schools required this.

Personally, I feel Anatomy complements Physio and vice versa, I would never want to take them separately !

The course is difficult but very doable, you have to put in the study time and do it every day to make the info stick.

Ive used Coloring books, Idiot Guide, Youtube videos, Quizlet, Animations, AND reading most of the chapter reading but not ALL.

Honestly, some of the reading is WAY too detailed for my taste but that's the way I learn.

I like to see the "big picture" first and then go back and review the details.

My school offers them separate. Anatomy and Chemistry are both prerequisites for Physiology. Anatomy and Physiology were each, 4 units with a lab. Chemistry 5 units with a lab. Worked well for me!
