By tech I mean patient care technicitians who give baths, do blood sugars, etc.

Specializes in critical care; community health; psych.

I'm a tech and secretary in an SICU on nights, as well as 4th semester nursing student. The nurses treat me like gold. Because our census is usually between 9 and 11 patients and only one of me, I can't always be counted on to do all the accuchecks or help with bathing every patient though I wish I could. The nurses are understanding and I believe are grateful for the extra pair of hands and eyes. It all works out. I am the only night tech, get paid peanuts and work my butt off. All I ask is that they share some of their knowledge with me as we work together. Unit nurses are a special bunch of people. I love'em and the feeling seems to be mutual.
