I have been making 40-45visits a week.
Just wondering what the average is.

YIKES!!! We do more like 25-35 a week. This week was really light, but since I am salary I really enjoyed that :) That seems heavy to me. When you are trying to get too many in, I find that the teaching aspect really suffers. You don't have time to spend as much one-on-one with the patient and the holistic approach to a visit is gone. That's just my opinion on it though. I have crazy weeks, but never 45 in a 5 day work week.

That's entirely too much! 30 to 32 is what our nurses are expected to do - and those are UNITS, not visits (i.e: a SOC = 2 Units).

27points a week = full time at my agency (1 pt regular visit, 1.5pts for a recert/roc or high tech, 2pts for a SOC)

40-45/wk is too many. I am ony PRN, but have been full time in the past. What I found as a full time field RN is that the higher number of visits results in lower than quality care, i.e., 'fast food home health'. Not for me. We are being told now that a 30 minute visit will probably not be sufficient, esp with the certification/award, whatever it is the agency I work for has. Not sure how long a visit they are wanting, but 30 minutes seems the average for a patient who is doing well, had no med changes and is very knowledgeable about meds and disease processes. I do have a wound care visit that takes 1 1/2 hr to 1 1/4 hr twice a week.
What is your average visit time?

30 units a week is minimum,,,,45 units would be 9 a day and depending on amount of travel time would determine to me if it was do-able......i don't think it always means we are not doing enough for each patient, that is a general statement, and varies , i have patients i spend 30 minutes with and others 45 plus depends on their needs
